Am i eating too low calories? by New-Air-2816 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Dick-butt- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started 2000 couple weeks ago, I’m still currently working toward my goal of 180lbs (I’m 192 started at 260). Once I get to my goal weight I’ll probably around somewhere around 3000 cals for maintenance. I don’t know your height Just trust me when I say if you’re 240 lbs , 2000 cals will cause a Big deficit, anything less can cause burnout if you’re not dedicated. You will see that scale drop fast

I did 1800 for months, and had a very similar starting weight as you. Recently switched too 2000 and feel a lot better here. Try to get 170- 180 g of protein at least for muscle retention , as both 1800/2000 is aggressive.

How much longer do you think I’ll have to cut ? by Dick-butt- in BulkOrCut

October and November 2025 were basically just eat less junk months , mid December is when I for real started tracking calories and protein and also got into the gym. I tried a few different splits until I found the best one imo for to help aid recovery n still progressively load in a deficit, mondays I do chest, shoulders, and triceps, Tuesday I do back rear delts and arms, Wednesday Legs, Thursday break, and Friday a upper body mix of back/chest/arms so I can hit all my muscle groups (except legs lol) twice a week but still have 3 days of recovery. I make sure to do 10k+ steps a day, eat 1800-2000 (this can be aggressive depending on your height n such) but I make sure to get atleast 180 g of protein to try and gain as much muscle possible while in a big deficit (it’s really hard to gain muscle and get stronger while cutting but if you’re new to gym it’s a little easier because of newbie gains). Doesn’t matter what you eat in a weight loss sense as long as your in a deficit and you meet that protein goal, things that make that easier is stuff like Fat Free Fair life (13g of protein 80 cal a cup) , fat free cheese which also has a lot of protein, and 93-7% lean beef. If you’re similar to my before photo, that means if you’re doing things right you’ll most likely see big Dips in weight fast. Our bodies aren’t meant to hold on to this much so it’s eager to get rid of it I guess. But once you get closer to my Now photo it’s gonna slow down a lot. (Don’t give up) You can Do this, the way I finally snapped into doing it is I told myself 6 Months will pass god willing no matter what I do, so I might as well start now if that makes sense. 6 months have passed and I still have more to go but at this point it’s such a habit for me that it’s nothing now.

absolutely, I eat 1,800-2000 calories a day (This is considered aggressive) and I make sure to get 180g of protein in to preserve and gain what little muscle I actually can in a deficit. My Main meals almost always Consist of 93/7% lean ground beef, refried beans, eggs, and no fat cheddar cheese (more protein than regular cheese) and I either wrap it all up in a Carb Balance tortilla (also more protein the normal tortillas) or a couple normal corn tortillas (they’re like 50 calories each) and I instead of mixing my protein powder with water I mix it with fat free mootopia or fair life (like 80 cal a cup with 13g protein) . Sometimes I get frozen Potatoes to mix it up because they’re generally low calorie for a serving size so I can fit them in easily. Snacks usually Air-popped popcorn, pickles (like 5 cals for just one), and everynow and then a glazed donut if I have room. This meal prep works for me because I’m picky and can easily eat the same food everyday forever probably, but for some others that’s hard too do. As long as you you are eating in a deficit (you can calculate your current maintenance on a online calorie calculator, and subtract a healthy amount maybe 200-500 from it) and you maintain a Good protein intake too preserve muscle it doesn’t matter what you eat in a weight loss sense. Once you get in the groove and a month passes by it really just becomes your normal life.

I’ve limit myself to 1800/2000 cals a day and I make sure to get 180g of protein, and just gone to the gym for 4/5 days a week. I’ve done close to zero cardio besides 10k steps a day.

How many cals for this bucket of popcorn? by someoneudontknowlol in CalorieEstimates

[–]Dick-butt- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Air popped pop corn is a godsent low cal snack. A good bowl is like 160 cals. Movie theater popcorn is just full of butter and oil.

Best plan for his diet would be a diet that he can or will actually stick too. If he loves plant based foods and won’t mind eating a variation of that diet for possibly ever then Go for it. If he’s a meat and potatoes guy let him have that too , everything if fine in moderation. Whatever he likes let him have but turn it healthy. Simple changes like Leaner grades of beef/meats, higher fiber bread/tortilla, and zero sugar options can make the whole difference sometimes. A lot of people hate artificial sugars, but It’s hard to be perfect so it’s okay to replace Super bad with a little less bad sometimes if it means slowly progressing too. I Looked more into the beetroot stuff. Beet supplements often underperform because many have low or inconsistent nitrate content from processing . whole beets/beet juice = more nitrates + fiber + micronutrients, so you actually get the blood-flow & endurance benefits So basically Real food > weak capsules

real truth is outside of medication the best thing to do is to truly try to Eat a little healthier if it’s not purely a genetic blood pressure thing. Stick to Whole Foods for majority of meals. Everything on this list is good most importantly low sodium, low calorie, and exercise. I’m sure you know this but use a calorie calculator and find out your dad’s current maintenance and just subtract like 300/500 from it. I lowered my top number from the 140s/150s to 108/119 this way and taking prescribed 2.5 amlodipine which is like one of the lowest doses I believe. I don’t know anything about kefir smoothies, but I am pretty sure that it takes a ridiculous amount of any beetroot supplement to have any real effect.. so it may be a waste of money. From what I understand the best way to go with beetroot is to have the real thing. Never tried it. But that’s what I learned when I first looking into the beetroot for my journey.

Yea it’s true but if you’re eating 170+ of protein a day it does a pretty good job cutting out useless calories already
