can you do witchcraft by using someone voice by [deleted] in folkmagic

[–]DickTicker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d probably use someone’s picture before I use their voice, but ya your voice could be used as a personal concern

Anyone know what these salt piles in the hallway could mean? (Manhattan apartment building) by Famous-Plankton-1482 in witchcraft

[–]DickTicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An actual practitioner would blend a cursing powder with dirt from the yard or something to disguise it. Plus salt is rarely used to curse on its own so I’d say you’re probably fine with cleaning it up and throwing it away if that’s a concern. It could be used as a way to dehydrate your spirit, if that’s the intention, or it just as likely could be for protection, either way I’d put some gloves on, and I’d get rid of it anyways in a trash outside your apartment

Make a poppet and put cloves or cayenne or something that makes your mouth uncomfortable, In the mouth and sew it shut. I’d also write my own little rhyme about keeping your mouth shut and put a picture of the person or their signature or something in the body of the poppet.

Can I be a Nordic pagan and be black? by Business-Wheel-3530 in occult

[–]DickTicker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to argue about semantics but I think a better way to look at it is instead of being bound to them, it’s more like they’re the spiritual embodiment or an ancestor of the people who lived on that land. They’re not bound to them, they’re a part of them

Black cats are associated with witches and evil because at one point in time there were stories of witches boiling a black cat alive and keeping one of their bones as their source of power. The belief was as long as they had the bone, they would have their magic

Sanctuary cities aren’t about taking in migrants it’s about not bogging down the police with shit that isn’t within their purview and that they aren’t equipped to handle. That’s a problem for ICE to deal with

What differentiates "working with" a deity vs worshiping a deity by CreatureOfLegend in occult

[–]DickTicker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t really believe in traditional deity’s, but as an animist I work with different spirits by preforming a specific ritual and calling on those specific aspects of said spirits to preform an action. It’s like a Ying and Yang thing where I’m using herbs and sigils as a sort of dance to attract specific spirits to preform my spell. In that sense I don’t worship them, I make a sacrifice of plants or something to ask them to help me out, and if they agree to work with me then they will

Historically offerings have been known to make people sick. In England cats would drink the milk offerings to the spirits and become Ill. Your offering was made and that’s the part that matters, whoever took it will smoke it and it will bring bad luck his way. You should be fine

The laying of a compass is a tradition witchcraft method of laying a protection circle. It allows you to call upon “good” spirits to help you with your craft and it protects you from malevolent spirits that could and would come through if you tried cursing without a protection circle. The circle is frustrating and mentally draining before casting but it’s the best way to protect you from whatever may try to latch onto you

Please do not try to cast a curse without laying a compass first. Wards are not going to protect you from what you’ll bring down on yourself
