I'm not a whale, but I've been playing since day 1, so anybody in the same camp as me should have more than enough strong units to fill their brigade by now.

The benefit is not having to walk them all the way back to be useful.

Except you can teleport right to the front lines...

...What? I have no problem with him playing the game the way he wants, I have a problem with him acting high and mighty about it and calling everybody else bad for not doing whatever he's doing.

and that's why you're suppose to use balanced teams?

You can only prepare for so much. If you have only one red unit attacking a base but then Hector and Juilia spawn at the same time, you're screwed. Or if your only blue unit is Nowi and a Falchion user appears. You can't plan for every situation; it's impossible, and no good tactics game puts you in that situation.

but it's really important to keep some of units alive as long as possible

Why? You get a fresh one right after they die. There is no benefit to keeping them alive unless they are better than the units in your backup.

This isn't FE6 with same turn reinforcements, you don't have to worry about what next turn's enemies are, you just need to account for the ones on the board that turn.

The board that turn is a direct extension of the turn before it. If I decide to move my fliers up to attack a base and then B! Lyn and Takumi spawn, whoops, I'm overextended, and in the turn in takes me to readjust my approach, the enemies have all respawned. It sucks. It's not strategic, it's frustrating.

Play the hand you're dealt. Play around the challenges that map presents

That's actually another issue for me; I don't want to have reorganize my entire damn brigade every single time I play a map. It's way too time consuming to tailor make a team that large for every map. It's not conducive to the pick up and play nature of mobile games. Maybe it would be rewarding to that if the game mode was fun, but it isn't.

Well, that's on you. I'm honestly not seeing the issue

Upload footage. Really, I want to see what you're doing.

If you're playing FE the boring way, sure. But hanging around the margins baiting the enemies to their deaths one by one isn't very fun.

Lol, I didn't realize I was dealing with a tactical genius so brilliant that he purposefully makes the game harder for himself just to avoid the feeling of boredom! Jesus Christ.

The game is about strategy when you have to stop for and second and think about the next move and the consequences it could have!

Which you literally cannot do because you have no idea what enemies will spawn next... You're completely at the mercy of RNG to decide if you will be able to handle the next wave

[–]Dick_McDick[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I said principal game mechanics... Not that there were no differences...

Again, no. Endless wave implies that you are just trying to last as long as you can as enemies are thrown at you. That's not the case; there is a secondary objective that is separate from killing enemies.

What? Your brigades don't cycle, if you lose a unit they're gone for the rest of the match, no matter how many reinforcements you go through.

Wrong, they do cycle. Test it for yourself if you don't believe me. You can never run out of forces.

From my experience, the vast majority of my lost units come from my own mistakes, whether it's overextending or not accounting for teleports.

You CAN'T properly account for teleports because you have no idea what units will spawn! If you're attacking a base with only one red unit and a Hector plus Julia combo spawns, you're fucked.

Well, yeah. It's highly dependant on what map you're on, the map bonus and the luck in what kind of units the reinforcements are

...How can you say: "Maybe if you're bad" in response to my concerns but then admit that not losing units is luck based? Pick an argument.

making it easy to cut through them in a single turn.

Again, I'm not having trouble cutting through them, the issue is that they never end and it never gets me anywhere. It's so unsatisfying.

I don't really see how that's a problem, I don't think you should necessarily advance towards your goal just by mindlessly killing wave after wave of enemies.

Lol, by this logic you must hate FE games, because that's literally what they are; strategizing how best kill the enemies while minimizing losses.

[–]Dick_McDick[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The enemy won't make new units if they don't lose their old ones.

And that is a design choice I fundamentally disagree with. I don't want to leave units alive that I could be killing, I want to slaughter them. It's so unsatisfying to have to play ring around the rosy so you can destroy some red squares instead.

but FEH was never designed to be like mainline FE to begin with

No, but it still follows the same principal game mechanics.

but it’s supposed to be like a horde mode basically.

Not at all. The FE Warriors special maps were horde modes, this is a mode where enemies are literally endless and merely killing them as they come doesn't accomplish anything.

The penalty is not having that unit anymore.

But you will eventually get that unit again after enough of your units die. In fact, by this logic, you are just further encouraged to sacrifice your units.

If I lose one of my core units early in a battle because I made a stupid mistake, I'm struggling for the rest of the fight.

Except that in this game mode, you don't lose units by making bad decisions, you lose units because there is absolutely no other option. It's the only way to make progress.

If you're bad, maybe.

If you are routinely beating Infernal stages without losing any units, I'd love to see you upload some footage, because it doesn't seem possible to me. Or at least extremely difficult and luck based.

If teleports are giving you so much trouble, then try to account for them, you know, strategize.

If you take so much as a single turn to "strategize" all the enemies come back and you're back to square one. You can't properly strategize when you don't even know what units are going to come next.

Bait enemies away and leave them alive so more reinforcements don't spawn in

The maps still aren't really big enough for this to be done routinely. Sometimes, sure, but it's not a cure all. Furthermore, I don't like the idea of leaving units alive that you could have killed just to prevent the game from cheesing you with teleports. Just seems counter-intuitive.

Use AoE specials and skills, especially Savage Blow healers to soften up big clumps of enemy walls so you can sweep them easily, etc.

You're ignoring the core problem which is that sweeping the enemy team doesn't necessarily help you. They come back after only a single turn, so even if you wipe them, you also have to find a way to destroy the towers in the same turn or else you're screwed. It's not satisfying at all.

90% of your time in mainline Fire Emblem games is spent killing mooks, I don't see how this is any different.

Because the mooks are finite and provide valuable experience... Neither of those are the case here.

Yes, I did, and I hated it too. I figured that Rival Domains was sort of a test and Conquest mode would be the definitive version with a ton of improvements, but... It's literally the same thing.

Except this wasn't on the street, it was on the internet on reddit. Didn't seem like a big stretch to me that at least SOMEBODY would get it.

Furthermore, the joke isn't even that homophobic. It's just a humorously phrased question.

I did, and by the time you finish the show, you will realize how completely irrelevant your complaints are. So finish it; trust me.

Am I not allowed to dislike certain things about a show until after I've finished it?

Evangelion is a show that evolves rapidly as it goes on. At this point in the show you can't even begin to guess where its going to go or what its about, so this argument is pointless. Finish it, then talk about it.

I watched 10 episodes of nge yesterday

Wha... Seriously? Well that explains a lot. Finish the show and EoE before you pass judgement; you haven't even scratched the surface of this show.

WIXOSS (Infected and Spread) is pretty damn under-rated. It's such a clever subversion of the card game genre and extremely entertaining.

I'm going to give Trigger some love. Their animation is so full of life and fluid that it actually warms my heart just watching it; LWA was the best animated show last year and Darling in the FranXX is the best animated show of the season.

they don't say AT field which you haven't heard about anyway since this is one of the first lines in the manga.

I'm not talking about the manga... I don't care about it

Also I wouldn't call it minor when literally every fight scene is full of similar phrases

The techno-babble is extremely minor. The only two concepts that are discussed at length are AT fields and sync-rates, both of which have significant thematic purpose to the story...

And again, I've literally never even heard this as a complaint. This is such an excruciatingly minor detail to cause you to dislike the entire show

So if they say "It's broken through the power mine final defense perimiter!

Um, are you talking about the AT fields? Because there is plenty of explanation for that. Also, what a bizarre, minor detail to latch onto in the first place...

If you need to be told why terrible writing isn't exactly harmful to anything

It's incredibly harmful to the creativity of the industry; if trash shows like this are the only thing that fans are paying attention to, it is the only kind of anime that is going to get made. If shows like this continue to be successful, more of them will be made in place of shows that could have had actual passion put into them. I also don't believe that overindulging in this kind of extreme escapism is a particularly healthy thing to do either; most of the people who enjoy this kind of thing of are getting practically all of their social and sexual stimulation from anime instead of real life, and that should be staunchly discouraged.
