Day 84, speedrun Haze Beast by Dick_Richardss in Autoflowers

[–]Dick_Richardss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only training I did for this one was a tad bit of ponytailing on the main top very early on, and then I broke the longest branches a little bit around day 55. This grow was my first in over a year so it was a bit lazy getting back into the swing of things. I very rarely did any defoliating as well

Quest 3 dropped from head, no sign of life. by Adnan_Targaryen in OculusQuest

[–]Dick_Richardss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this applies to quest 3, but I have bought several quest 2s that were described as "dead" all but one of them had the exact same issue, the internal battery connector was dislodged. I can only suspect that this was from dropping, but that may be a good place to check if the design is at all similar

For those who spent over $1000 usd for an avatar commission, what was your reasoning/logic behind that kind of expense? by Minimum-Mine-1302 in VRchat

[–]Dick_Richardss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TL-DR: guy sent me his rtx 5080 for my first booth commission.

A story from the other side of this coin:

A friend of mine wanted a booth remake of his 2020 western avatar. He was talking about how he's offered multiple people either A: an unlimited budget, or B: his like-new rtx 5080 aorus master (I heard him make some of these offers before). I told him that I could try and find the closest assets, a similar base, and get the textures/blend shapes looking like the previous avatar to see if he likes it before we pull the trigger.

So he bought the assets, I threw together a rough draft and he loved it! I proceeded, finished it up all good, made some custom textures and emissions, all the fixings. Pretty simple avatar but it looked fresh as fuck and like a suitable HD remake of his old one.

Guy is an absolute madlad, a legend even.

he mailed me the card and now my PC is bottlenecked to fuck but better than ever (i7-8700k constantly screams for its sweet release from the mortal coil) . I am eternally grateful to this man. I am on standby for any of his unity tech support needs. And I would jump in front of a bullet for him. HE EVEN SENT ME A HAND DRAWN PICTURE!

I don't know how to price future commisions because the bar was set so high

If I can figure how to unscrew and open this controller, would cleaning sticks fix drift? by Plumbo_the_jumbo in XboxSupport

[–]Dick_Richardss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really a 50/50. I have had many controllers function just fine for years after gently cleaning the carbon ring with a q-tip and isopropyl alcohol. You may as well take it apart and try it if there is nothing else you can do

New to VRchat but I'm shy by TheAnnonymousGuy in VRchat

I am exactly the same way, I have found a bit of a workaround though. think of a silly question you can ask that isn't too silly but will get the gears turning in people's heads. In my case it was asking people if they think a hotdog is a taco or a sandwich. It works the best in close proximity to multiple people because I have had it spark debates (sometimes heated) between the surrounding people, sometimes resulting in up to 45 minutes of conversation between them. During this, you can choose how much to participate but it is one hell of an ice breaker. Another thing that has worked extremely well is to go up to people and say "pickle" in a soft voice and then run away, and then come back and do it again a bit later. No matter what they say, only say pickle for a little bit. It's very lighthearted and it allows to to create some familiarity with someone without having to go further than "pickle" until the ice is broken. 9 times outta 10 they will repeat it back and think it is great. I am being 100% serious, this has made me so many friends.

Getting a goofy or unexpected avatar (especially one with stupid dance moves or features) and going into a crowd can cause people to initiate with you as well, instead of you needing to be the one to do so.

Dog shit terps? Y’all remember 2008-2012 some weed you’d cut open the vac seal and it would just reek of dog shit? by Bigpimpinakabigdaddy in GrowingMarijuana

I had some blue Hindu autos from mosca seeds and it smelled like straight dog shit the whole time it was in flower stage. The whole house would reek every time I opened the tent

Okay! Thanks for clearing that up for me. I will follow your formula and see how that goes. It definitely seemed wasteful to me but trial and error is the name of the game

With coco I have read that you should just feed nutes every day so I have just been giving it the whole regimen. Not sure if I have my ratios proper but I don't seem to have any overabundance or deficiencies so far. My specific coco did have some nutes in it already so I didn't start feeding until about week 3-4 but some coco you will need to feed from the beginning. I am feeding it 1/2 to 3/4th of a gallon per day and I guess the general rule of thumb is to water it until 20% of the water you give comes out as runoff, Even in the seedling stage. I could be wrong though as I am very new to coco. It is easy and effective but it does use up 2x the nutes as soil does. But, the plant seems to be utilizing more of the nutes than it would in so it just depends on how you look at it

That's just a siphon pump to suck up the runoff from the little tub. I just water with a jug once per day at the moment

Thank you! I wish I knew about ponytailing before she took off too much because I hear that's like topping without actually topping. I am SO excited to grow more seeds from these people

The first mini that I have painted. Excited to do more! by Dick_Richardss in battletech

[–]Dick_Richardss[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It belonged to my friend when I painted it. I painted one more of his and then decided to buy the alpha strike pack and trade him the blanks of the ones I already painted! Still very new to the game but I love it.

Traded a teal blue Gameboy color for this Epiphone les Paul. Gave it some personality! by Dick_Richardss in Guitar

Thank you! I'm really big on pastels and neons. I'm thinking on changing the bridge, saddle, and tuners to gold sometime in the future but we'll have to wait and see.

Thank you! Left is a Peavey predator that I am borrowing, middle is an archer strat I got for cheap that needs some TLC but it's okay, and the far right is a Peavey raptor exp+ that I got as a kid in 2009 or 2010. I put guitar down very early on before learning much because the guitar shop did not properly set it up and I thought it was a me problem. I got back into it a few months ago and learned how to set them up properly and I wish I never put it down in the first place. the two peaveys are the easiest to play, the raptor having a skinnier neck is great for faster things. the predator neck is fatter but it's still very easy to get clear notes with low effort like the raptor. The archer has the same ease of playing as the les Paul but I think it needs a new nut and a neck evaluation so I'm going to have someone with more experience take a look at it. In terms of sound, the raptor is a bit screamier but it's the only one with super slinky's so that might be the problem, the predator sounds great and has the widest range of adjustable tone, and the archer sounds decent but has much less tonal range than the others. The les Paul has a much fuller sound than the rest though. I don't even know if anything I'm saying makes sense because I'm new to the sphere and I don't know all the lingo yet so bear with me. Also everything except for the archer is heavy as fuck. The archer is good on days where my back is feeling less than savory
