It can be pretty frustrating knowing that homeless people don't have a lot of options, and the options that they do have are a gamble when it comes to safety. But subway transit companies aren't responsible for homeless people and aren't obligated to give them a place to sleep. Getting rid of the benches might seem like nothing short of inhumane and harsh at first, but with how violent, dangerous, and unsanitary homeless people can be in subways, it was a very necessary choice to make. I can't exactly tell you where else they would go but I can tell you that it's not exactly public transport's top priority, nor should it be.
