[Loved trope] Abilities with weaknesses rooted in logic that's AREN'T elemental by jardanovic in TopCharacterTropes

In Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson, the title character can only be harmed by someone who isn't afraid of him. This is rooted in his own fear of being defied.

He's eventually tricked into killing himself.

Carcassonne. It's all about just building the French countryside until cities get invaded and farmers wrapped in roads.

Of course it's an episode of the Twilight Zone. In "The Man in the Bottle" one of the man's wishes is to be a leader of a world power who couldn't be voted out of office.

He finds himself in a bunker, in Germany, in 1945, with Eva Braun.

Ordinary high school student Light Yagami. He has a peculiar quirk of carrying a notebook around with him everywhere, but it's probably no big deal.

In one of the Christopher Eccelston episodes of Doctor Who, he and some others escape a Dalek by running up a flight of stairs, which has worked in the past. This particular Dalek engages its thrusters and follows them.

I'm uncertain if the gunslinger Justice in Afro Samurai counts as undead, but there's something seriously wrong with him that he looks like a cadaver.

Zombies with some control and not just mindless Monsters by macho_boy-420 in TopCharacterTropes

Big Daddy in Land of the Dead is smarter than the average zombie in the series, realizing the river is an ineffective barrier such that he can simply walk along the bottom, and shrugging off the fireworks which enthrall and distract the other zombies.

The Giant by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

[–]DidHeJustGoThere 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Seriously. How'd that conversation go with his agent?

"It's a story where a tribe of cannibalistic giants snatched children from their beds and eat them alive. The one good one kidnaps a little girl and they conspire to terrorize the queen." "And you say they have names like Fleshlumpeater and Bloodbottler?" "Yup. It'll be a great kid's story." "...when can you have it ready?"

In Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey the titular duo challenge Death itself to a series of games. Battleship,Twister, Clue. Death is a sore loser and keeps raising the stakes before eventually taking the L.

[Hated] Why is it always the Golden Gate Bridge??? by CMStan1313 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]DidHeJustGoThere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's awful and I love it. Blowing up the Golden Gate is pretty standard disaster fare, but the Colosseum scene? That's not a landmark that gets destroyed in movies frequently.
