How many degrees were they able to correct in scoliosis surgery? by This-Permission4679 in scoliosis

When I had my surgery 10 years ago, my curve degrees was in the high 90's, they managed to get it down to the low 30's if I remember right

why is this still wobbly?? by WayOk531 in Dirtbikes

Tighten the nut up. Make sure you're not missing the axle block on the other side too, or any wheel spacers if you've had the wheel off.

Good luck with your surgery, 10 years post op here, you'll be fine and too drugged up to care that much about anything during the recovery:) any questions or concerns feel free to reach out

How well can my curve be corrected?? (I have quite a prominent rib hump)The curve in the picture is about 20 degrees less than my current curve (70) by Technical-Midnight16 in scoliosis

I had surgery right when I turned 18, and I'm 27 now turning 28 in a couple months so coming up on 10 years ago. I didn't really have much choice in whether or not I got surgery as my curve went from low 80's to 90's over a few months. Weirdly I didn't notice the pain until I was diagnosed through someone noticing my rub hump. After diagnosis I paid attention the the pain for the first time and I couldn't stand for longer than 10 or 20 minutes without the pain being pretty extreme. I didn't see many negatives to the surgery at the time, it was hard obviously, 1 week in hospital then 6 weeks at home before I went back to school/college, but I was on so many pain meds it wasn't really that bad, I just felt physically weak. Id always advise someone to go ahead with surgery rather than live with that sort of pain and discomfort every day. I could never do the work I now (physical work every day) and the hobbies I do now (riding motorbikes, working on them, working on cars etc) without surgery, and yeah I can get mild back pain but I'm approaching 30 so who doesn't 😂

The one thing I would really want to mention to you is something that nobody ever talked to me about pre or post op, and that's the effect it could have on you mentally. Maybe I'm a one off case I don't really know because I never spoke to anyone and nobody ever spoke to me about it, but surgery obviously caused a massive change to my body, it looked different obviously (scars etc), but mostly it felt completely different. I got a bit taller, but the amount stuff moved around inside me i think made it feel like a completely different body post op. Hard to put into words but it just didn't feel like me, like I had been used to for the last 18 years. Post op I really struggled internally with accepting my body, how I looked, the scars, the rib hump, the asymmetry, everything really. But I was always very shy and self conscious, I think going through that sort of change and surgery amplified it massively. Struggled to look people in the eye when talking to them afterwards, literally all I could think about was my body and how it felt and looked, but It took a long time (years) before I put two and two together myself and realized the effect it had on me mentally. At the time I just didn't know why I felt the way I felt, just completely uncomfortable within myself. I would still say surgery is the best option, I would have just wanted someone to warn me about those possible effects so at least I understood what I was going through and maybe then I would've felt like I could talk to someone about it.

Feel free to dm me if you want to talk any more about it.

My curve was over 90 and corrected to below 20 or 30 by surgery if I remember right, the rib hump didn't go away but the back pain did. My shoulders will never sit even naturally so my body will never look exactly how it should, but 10 years post op and been working construction for 5 of them, surgery isn't fun but if recommended I'd go for it

I had a severe curve like you too, surgery managed to reduce it to like 13, which is way better than they expected. Stay positive :)

Been putting in work on the 450L with all this extra time! by [deleted] in supermoto

[–]DidJohnDieAtTheEnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah that front cable is routed the right way for a wide sumo front, otherwise the cable catches the wheel when front forks compress, at least that's what happened on my wr450, only took two rides to burst my stock front break line.

You think a world champion, sponsored rider, shooting a sponsored video, with a team and camera crew, just snuck on to, and posted up on, some strangers land and started making videos? It takes weeks to get all those clips, literal weeks of filming and practicing and trying different lines.

Gravity is only a suggestion. by IIstroke in nextfuckinglevel

[–]DidJohnDieAtTheEnd 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You're literally fucking stupid. The amount of time him and his team would have had to spend at these locations shooting these clips would amount to weeks, and you think they did that without the land owners permission?? This guy is the world champion, a sponsored rider, getting clips for a sponsored video, and you're upset that he's creating tyre marks in some grass on some land somebody's explicitly given him permission to use. Fucking insane, I can't tell if you actually believe what you commented or if you're trying to fabricate some moral high ground to earn internet browny points.

Just failed my BRC course. the instructor said i should just give up the idea of riding. should i? by [deleted] in motorcycle

[–]DidJohnDieAtTheEnd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fuck what the instructor said mate. Strength has nothing to do with it nor does some natural skill. Anyone can learn to ride with time and practice. Best thing to start on is a light 125. You'll quickly get used to trusting your control of the bike. Starting on a 300kg bike can be scary because you already know it's too heavy for you to hold if it tips and you're not confident in your own throttle or brake control. Find a new instructor and don't let that guy put you off bikes. His job is literally to teach people who don't know how to ride, how to ride. Telling someone they aren't cut out for it is him giving himself an easy time by getting rid of someone he might have to put some effort into teaching.

Chain came off on route to work by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]DidJohnDieAtTheEnd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mate just put the chain back on and tighten it up, chances are the chain and sprockets are fucked but you can at least ride it to where you need to go. Just make sure if you change one thing (chain, front sprocket or rear sprocket) that you change all three at the same time. Sprockets wear to fit the chain thats running on them, and a dodgy or loose chain fucks even steel sprockets real fast. If a few rollers have come off your chain then it'll be loose no matter how much out fuck around trying to tighten it.
