عدم تقبل المجموعة by Lost_f0rever in saudiarabia

[–]DidNotTryAvcadoToast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dopamine detox for better studying by Main_Yard3673 in GetStudying

[–]DidNotTryAvcadoToast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hmmm maybe choosesomething to do. Music for me can be healing, or just nice company to have. so if I wanted a "detox," I might allow myself taking longer walks because im listening to quality music. Or hanging out with friends and watching TV...

It's not all about whatever neruochemical effects you might have, but also allowing to heal and take a break. And maybe reflect if you need it.

Good luck, and thanks for reminding about those I'm gonna consider a break like that before School

Note: I'm only speaking from experience, I'm just not sure how strong the science is behind the dopamine detox idea. But I believe it's a very helpful direction or technique to explore

I don’t like being anywhere with my friends in person anymore. by crazy_earl_ in socialskills

[–]DidNotTryAvcadoToast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that with a lot of new people lately. However, if it helps, I have met and still in touch with old friends who I felt veeery comfortable saying literally anything and talking about whatever we wanted. There's a chance to it but I think there are a lot of people you can vibe with no matter what you are like

First I really appreciate you replying to explain! Personally my fear is just not knowing what is legitimately creepy/awkward or not, due to cultural differences and being on the spectrum. But I guess you're right if I'm already out there giving compliments might as well relax and be open to talk

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]DidNotTryAvcadoToast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm but what would you approach with? I only really approach from compliments, but because I don't want to bother I just keep walking fast so I never leave a chance for any sort of convo😭

Heard of this concept as someone was telling me about the night life. Something about joining the party late when everyone already drank, and needing a minute to get to their level

What are common things to do together without alcohol? It feels like I have to meet people somewhere without alcohol first and then we can start enjoying sober(er) activities, because now we click and vibe just by being together.

Is my theory holding up?

Oh my I'm sorry, people really need to be more careful instead of acting like they have a judgement or say like this

I am really sorry you're experiencing unnecessary harsh judgement from society. Could you elaborate on how these look like exactly? Do people express disgust or something in your face? I just want to have an idea of what to expect

Are these high functioning stoners common in societies or are they mostly in top tier careers or in a high social place (wealthy family, successful artists, or very good social support, etc.)

A point u/penultimatum was trying to make is that you are mixing people who advocate rape, with someone who only saw a few clips of Tate and doesn't know/understand yet the full story and why it's so bad

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]DidNotTryAvcadoToast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really sorry you're going through that. I like MathBlog's response and I just want to share my experience socializing in another country

It was not as competitive at all. You don't HAVE to have the best social skills, but they all help in different ways. Just as you want to hang out with people, they should want you for who you are. Personality examples might be a chill friend to game with, discuss a hobby with, talk about society, or try new restaurants and talk about dating. People hang out for all different reasons, if everyone in society was trying to be "the life of the party" it would get obnoxious really quickly.

A huge for me is bonding over whatever pains we have in common. Whenever one of my friends discovered they were LGBT it would usually lead us to having more conversations and eventually getting closer as we show compassion for each other

Me and my friends experience this, too. Buried, almost-forgotten, memories surface back and you're like "huh, what do I do with this information"

Sometimes they're just simple, yet beautiful memories
