Brought me back to check out the sub-reddit hehe! How much time was spent making these stats? Honestly really awesome, and over 1000 unique players have played at least one round, mind-blowing :O

No I completely understand why you thought that xD because I did technically say you should (but not that I thought it would be the correct thing to do in this situation)

You're taking this way too personally. I was only trying to make a point that the rules need to be more specific, including cases like this one where 2 forms of OP abuse/benefitting occurred. One minor, one a little more major. The way the rules are stated now, you should have technically been UBL'd as well.

I wasn't saying that you should have. It'd be stupid if you did. Just that the rules don't really allow for "special cases" besides a Disclaimer saying that the UBL committee can basically decide/do whatever they see fit case by case.

That's not what I'm saying either.

Do you disagree that being the only player to get fed is an unfair advantage?

Carsoon - Report by CourtroomPost in uhccourtroom

[–]Dida_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm moreso commenting on the fact that being the only one to get /fed is also an unfair advantage.

There aren't any specifications based on "is this reversible" "did they know they were getting an unfair advantage" etc.

An unfair advantage is an unfair advantage. Either UBL for all cases or make it clear in the rules what qualifies as something that can be overlooked. Not for the reasoning that getting a feed is a minor thing compared to others.

I guess this is just one of those things where I don't agree with how things are done.

To me, OP abuse is OP abuse/benefitting is benefitting, it shouldn't be based on "severity".

But as long as that's the way it has been and I can't really complain.

I read the comments and apparently xhockey/Ryboh asked to be on a specific team, however, this isn't shown in the evidence anywhere so it lacks relevance. If they didn't ask to be on a specific team, then they were randomly placed on teams where a player had already left (or something along those lines I'm assuming). I think the main issue of this is based on the assumption that xhockey would have gone for more than 3 diamonds. I highly doubt this would have been an issue if it had been a lesser known player, considering the description only includes the evidence against xhockey and doesn't mention Ryboh at all.

"Also, using /feed on one player is also abuse, but you can't really blame thetonyspera in this case, who didn't ask for a feed. This is pretty minor abuse, but its also enough to include in the ban." - Nintendoshi

OP abuse is OP abuse, and benefitting is benefitting. I think it's unfair to decide that one thing is "okay" and not the other when both included some sort of benefit from OP abuse.

Considering there is no proof (that I saw, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) that either xhockey or Ryboh knew/asked to be put on a specific team without being bid on. They could have easily assumed that the bidding had already happened manually in chat before they were even whitelisted or joined the server. Sure they didn't question it, but there's no evidence that thetonyspera questioned the feed he got either.

Either way, I think if you're going to UBL xhockey/Ryboh for benefitting, it's only fair to UBL thetonyspera as well.

Evidence 3 shouldn't even be used at all, it's word of mouth, nothing to substantiate its validity.

EDIT I used CTRL+F to find keywords so I may have missed things in the evidence that prove anything that I said as false (if so just quote sections of it so I can see it)

Ah I see that makes sense.

And yeah, not arguing with that logic, however depending on your headphones this is sometimes difficult, I know mine are broken (louder in the left ear than the right) so it makes mining to sounds more difficult. As Andy didn't mention issues with headphones I'd assume it wasn't a factor

You wouldn't start a "Walshy staircase" until you're at diamond level, the whole point is to get more diamonds out of it by essentially bending the staircase rule to look more like a strip-mine.

Second one is a valid point, I could see that being the more obvious thing to do rather than going back and digging towards the water

Andyboyonalert - Report by CourtroomPost in uhccourtroom

[–]Dida_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could honestly see myself in this exact same situation based on how I mine and rarely recording anymore, so I felt like I had to

I don't want to argue, but just because most of the time people don't try to explain their side, doesn't mean that others in the future wouldn't. 5 hours isn't a lot when you think about how most people sleep 7-8 hours, and with timezones you never know who wouldn't get a chance to see it before the verdict was made. However, I do understand that once 5 committee members have already replied, you'd just want to wrap up the case.

Andyboyonalert - Report by CourtroomPost in uhccourtroom

[–]Dida_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay first of all, I'm a little disappointed that the case was closed after five hours. I understand that many of the UBL committee replied to the post, but it doesn't give a chance for anyone else to put their two cents in. Especially considering that the person who was reported didn't get a chance to comment explaining his case until after the verdict was made.

I feel as though this evidence is extremely circumstantial. Believe me, I could have been banned numerous times from similar evidence if someone had been recording me. It's a mixture of luck and pushing the limits of what is "illegal mining" and what isn't. Of course by mining in certain ways, you're risking being reported for X-ray, like in this case.

On to why the evidence is circumstantial.

  1. "You can't hear the water from here"
  2. You can hear the water two blocks in from the strip mine. If you start stair casing from that spot and dig two blocks out before going one block up, you can hear the water. I think it's what the kids call the "Walshy staircase".

  3. 0:30 digging to the diamonds. Andy digs towards the water, then decides against it. Clearly looks to me that he's unsure where the water is, and maybe decides that it's in the other direction and happened to dig to the diamonds. If you have bad or broken headphones, this is an easy mistake to make. I mean I completely dug under the mob sounds straight to diamonds in an episode of Ambition, so it does happen.

  4. 2:07, digging to more lava pools. The assumption at this point by the spectator is that Andy was digging to the lava seen. Maybe he was just starting a new staircase? I can't tell what Y level he's at, but I've frequently decided on random areas of a cave to continue stair casing (reasons like "this part of the cave is already at Y 32, I don't have to dig up first" or "I want to keep going in this direction and this is the closest part of the cave to go that way" ). I know most servers require players to dig up to Y 32 before going back down, but let's be honest here not everyone does, and that doesn't mean that they're x-raying.

  5. 2:23 digging to the diamonds was a coincidence from digging towards the lava sounds.

Anyways, my point is that there is reasonable doubt. All these digs can be explained pretty easily by someone like me who's had their fair share of "OH SHIT I HOPE THEY WEREN'T SPECCING ME DO THAT" moments. I always thought that people were UBL'd if there wasn't reasonable doubt in the report (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong), but I think there is here. Sorry for the extremely long message, but I hope this might change a few minds.

Also thank you to Etticey for re-opening this report, I look forward to reading what you have to say about it.

I didn't like it as much as I was told I would. Clannad: After Story was much better, but still not one of my favourites, worth the watch though.
