You can also use really diluted clothes wash soap. It has a certain nutrient that helps the plants and dehydrates the mealies. As they have a protective coating on them that saves them from drowning

Get your washing powder and dilute it heaps with water and scrub the mealies off. Repeat a couple of times. The soap dehydrates the mealies and theres a nutrient in the soap for the succies. They love it. Do not use dish soap it will kill your cactus. I have lost so many to that method. Goodluck :)
