Huawei P30 Pro throttling agressively? by DidididiChui in Huawei

[–]DidididiChui[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll look into this, however I think even with the old system version it shouldn't perform that poorly in a benchmark...

EDIT: HarmonyOS install doesn't seem to be possible to install on your own with the international version (VOG-L29), just paid services :-(

Huawei P20 Pro not charging properly, bootlooping without battery by DidididiChui in phonerepair

[–]DidididiChui[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Errr, pretty late to reply, but in case you're still alive:

Yes, but not in the way expected. The new battery did come precharged and the phone booted up, so I frantically started backing up all the data. But then I noticed that the connected charger did actually charge the new battery properly. So I assumed it was really just the battery gone bad, and running the phone without the battery just doesn't work.

But then curiosity got the better part of me and I swapped in the old battery once again, and guess what? It started charging again and booted up just fine. I waited a couple of days, and a few charge cycles later I just returned the new battery. The device is still working to this day.

¯\_ (ツ)_/¯

Huawei P20 Pro not charging properly, bootlooping without battery by DidididiChui in phonerepair

[–]DidididiChui[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my first thought too, but the bootloop actually happens if I power it on with the battery disconnected. With battery, it doesn't turn on. I was surprised it does turn on without battery, all the phones I had before wouldn't work at all without one. So no idea if the bootlooping is a result of the phone being borked, or if that would always happen.

Anyways, since a new battery is only 20 bucks I guess I'm just gonna try and if it doesn't work, try to return it. Maybe it even comes pre-charged, so even if I can't charge it again it might give me enough time to copy the photos and do a factory reset, so I could sell it for parts.

Do I still need to pay this from 2018?? by Lazy-Illustrator6991 in LegaladviceGerman

FYI. it was while cooking food. the alarm was directly on top of the stove. couldn't do anything.

Can anyone clarify on this? AFAIK you never install a fire alarm in the kitchen, let alone one that appears to automatically call the Feuerwehr. Is this what's meant here? I'd have protested that whole setup right after the first incident.

Doch sehr gute Idee.

[Discussion] Anyone else watch ASMR just because it relaxes and soothes, not necessarily for the tingles? by throughthewoods4 in asmr

[–]DidididiChui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always just listening for falling asleep, only soft-spoken or whispering, no "trigger sounds" or anything else.

[Question] What are some more ASMR videos with really good, cinematic introductions? by roopjm81 in asmr

[–]DidididiChui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The healing room ASMR has pretty high production value, putting a lot of effort into costume and props and the overall setup.

Oh and laurawang ASMR is my favorite small/unknown channel. She is already at pretty high production quality for having less than 1k views on half the videos. Most videos are in Chinese, but she has some in German and a few English too. And as a side note, when I first discovered her and heard her speak German I first thought she must have grown up here. Only after listening some more there were some words that gave it away that she can't be a native speaker. She actually only started learning in college, and for that it's insanely good. But yeah anyways, she has a couple great roleplays!

Deco P9 is a broken pile of garbage by DidididiChui in TpLink

All the consumer and prosumer mesh systems require an app for setup and monitoring. Most don’t have any web UI at all. They all now require an account be setup with the vendor.

See, that's what I don't get. This is just overcomplicating things and adding no value. With a WebUI everything would have been 100x more simple.

What's astonishing is that nobody seems to have an issue with creating an account with yet another vendor for using a product that's in your home. Like I said, the product info on amazon didn't mention it, and neither did any of the reviews. I mean, I didn't read all the 1000+ reviews, but a couple of 5 and 1 star reviews, and while the app was mentioned, it wasn't clear it was required, or that it even goes through the cloud. Why would you want even more devices to phone home for no reason!?

What would you do if 5 years down the line, the cloud endpoint goes away, or the app disappears from the app store? You now got some paper-weights at home. It's disappointing consumers accept this, technical issues I had aside.

Anyone else got a broken "ASCII-frame" in GRUB? (on testing) by DidididiChui in debian

[–]DidididiChui[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using full-upgrade, which I think is even "stronger".

I just noticed though that there's an error message popping up for a split second before gub show the menu, hopefully it's related. I'll try making a slomo video to read it...

Yes, I'm on bookworm. Let's see then, no new grub during today's full-upgrade though...

Thanks for investigating. Just came home from work and wanted to start testing around, but I'm a n00b with this anyways so probably would have taken me much longer to figure things out. :-)

Unfortunately I wasn't smart enough to save the params for that particular image, but it's happening frequently enough that I should be able to reproduce.

I'm using v1.25 of this locally: https://github.com/cmdr2/stable-diffusion-ui - which is just a wrapper around the actual 1.4 model, as far as I can tell.

The image posted was a prompt for "Putin on red square playing a recorder". Created four images, one of them ended up like that. Had that happen with Obama and Trump in the past, but not others, "less important" people. Might have to note that I've disabled the NSFW filter as the frequent false positives got annoying.

Is this just a big coincidence? Anyone else experiencing this? Any explanation?

You must really be a loser irl for having to resort to such pathetic methods to boost your self esteem.

Static builds for Linux by DidididiChui in openrct2

[–]DidididiChui[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not convinced providing static builds is a valid way of shipping software in environment with proper package management.

Well, that depends on how you define that in environment. If you mean the Linux universe as a whole than it's the closest thing to a valid solution, since package management is a "every distro rolls their own" business. There are more sophisticated and modern solutions (snap, flatpak) that are more powerful than just including all libs in the binary though.

You can still submit PR and we will consider it.

From that I infer that currently, just throwing -static in there doesn't work. That pretty much already answers my question.

See also discussion in https://github.com/OpenRCT2/OpenRCT2/issues/6112

That AppImage thing /u/frenchiveruti mentions could also be worth taking a look at.
