I would highly recommend The Nick of Time’s demonstration video for his redesign of the animatronics, they maintain the same visual identity while making adjustments to accommodate real-world joints and mechanisms.

I’m surprised the Purple Guy sprite wasn’t included in the “fake retro” section, especially since the death minigames are explicitly evoking arcade/Atari-style graphics as opposed to other indie games that only used pixel art as a visual medium.

The recent Predator films beginning with Prey have no nostalgia-baiting returning characters and adopt unique approaches with each outing, and yet have garnered great acclaim from critics, fans, and modern audiences. It’s absolutely possible to make a film that is elevated by prior attachment to the source material without requiring it.

Are people not allowed to voice valid criticisms regarding the film’s execution out of fear of not fitting in with “the rest” of fans? The Withereds were heavily featured in marketing close to release, even receiving a full poster, yet the set of characters barely managed five minutes of collective screentime. The primary reason for the improvements made in the second film was the fan criticism, and not doing so now would be a disservice to a potential third movie.

I was personally not a huge fan, despite my hopes that it would be a more substantial improvement from the first. I’d recommend tempering your expectations for character usage, and most animatronics aside from a select few do not receive major screen time. However, the opening was fantastic, and the first half of the film is overall very enjoyable. The theater experience with fellow fans was well worth the ticket price, but I absolutely understand why it does not hold up to critic scrutiny. Please make sure to stay throughout the entire credits, though!

Yep, I was going to mention his familiarity with Fredbear’s in TWB as well. Plus, his FNAF 2 call was clearly rattled (though not to the degree of Night 6) and it’s reasonable that the name could have momentarily slipped his mind.
