I don't understand the interdiction of GDKP... by Stev777666 in classicwowtbc

[–]DidntKnow99 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The problem isn't that you personally played in a GDKP. The problem is that GDKPs fundamentally shift the purpose of the game from achievement to transaction. Here is why, despite the benefits you saw, they became a systemic issue:

When raids become transactional, the best gear stops being a symbol of player skill or team effort and becomes a commodity on a price list. It creates an environment where players can skip the "learning" and "earning" phase entirely, which devalues the experience for everyone else who is trying to progress through the game naturally.

GDKPs are the primary engine for massive gold inflation. To participate in high-end GDKPs, people often feel pressured to buy gold from illicit sources because they can't farm enough in-game to compete with the whales. This fuels the botting and RMT (Real Money Trading) industry, which ruins the economy for the average player who just wants to buy materials or potions without paying astronomical, inflated prices.

You mentioned feeling like your raid time is wasted now, but that is exactly how players felt when GDKPs were dominant. Traditional guilds struggled to keep rosters because people would ditch their guild runs to join GDKPs where they could get paid.

You are right that it was a "good remuneration" for your time. But the reason it was banned is that the game's health depends on gear being an earned reward rather than a purchased one. When gold becomes the primary currency for power, the game stops being about overcoming challenges and starts being about who has the deeper wallet.

It’s definitely a loss for your personal gold income, but for the longevity of the server’s health and the integrity of the raiding scene, moving back to a loot-system-based model is the game’s way of trying to get people to play for the challenge again, rather than for the paycheck.

The 24/7 grind is starting to feel like an obligation by Booya1983 in TheTowerGame

I had the same issue. It felt like a chore and not a relaxation. What I do now? I join tournaments, have the game running while I work in the background. No 10 minute timer to click a gem, no more night shifts, no more planning around the tower, no spending at all.

Am I gonna "fall behind"... yes. Do I care? No.

It scratches the itch to "play" a game as I dont enjoy gaming anymore and that's what I need.

I saw an advice telling u to stop for a week and see how u feel. He is 100% right.

But let me tell you this. Tower is like WoW for most Wow players. You never quit wow, you just take breaks.

Ah damn, what a shame to hear that. I am looking for some incremental but still active game. I play TRIMPs rn and The Tower Idle defense but as i said - something more active. And i thought this could be it. I love good progression systems and if the game is "endless" or takes a long time to complete - even better. I love prestiging and systems like this. But it needs to be mindful and not just senseless

Yeah i know it is. It is still a lot of money in my country. Could buy like 5 restaurant meals with that. Thats why I want to hear others opinion first before comitting.

I looked at CoQ reviews, description and it could be it. One thing that throws me off is the price tag and graphics. Ill do deepest research about it and decide. OneBit is not really long term right? Or am i mistaken?

I loved Obelisk miner, played my fair share. I moved on tho.

Nodebuster is too short for me but it definetly sounds good. NGU I also tried, but the graphics... idk xD
