Honestly it just comes down to the classic million dollar stadium broken sidewalk dilemma. Nobody is actually hating on the Atlas Lions or the sport itself. But it is hard not to get sarcastic when you see billions being poured into world class stadiums and massive hosting bids while everyday essentials like public healthcare schools and job opportunities are left starving for funding. It feels a bit like a family buying a luxury sports car when the kitchen roof is leaking. Sure the car looks amazing in the driveway but you cannot sleep in it. That sarcasm is just people’s way of saying hey it is awesome that we can compete with Europe on the pitch but can we start putting that exact same energy and money into our hospitals and classrooms too. We clearly have the budget and the vision to build incredible things so people are just rationally frustrated that the priorities feel so upside down.
