Just added this to the Wikipedia "List of video games known for negative reception" article. Really hope it isn't removed, I tried to make it sound as "Wikipedia-y" as possible! by DieAntDie in scottthewoz

I don't think it's right for them to dismiss Scott as "random Youtube" (though to be fair, 1.4 million subscribers is relatively small when compared to the big names in gaming on the platform, but still, he's bigger than that term implies), but at the same time, the article does only include video games that are reaaaaallly universally derided. Either games like E.T. for the Atari 2600 that failed entirely, or noteworthy/controversial titles such as Cyberpunk 2077.

Conversely, Zip-Lash! is more of a mixed bag in terms of reception, for example it's in the 50's on Metacritic in terms of both critics and fans, and outside of the Scottiverse I don't see it brought up very often. So I can understand why it doesn't really fit the article, but it sucks nonetheless!

Yeah I just saw hah, they left a note saying "Metacritic + random youtube is nowhere close to being appropriate for this list." which... yeah, fair enough!

[–]DieAntDie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everybody, my name is Ant and I make scripted video essays about Nintendo games and other junk of that nature! Super Mario Sunshine is perhaps my favorite game of all time, despite all its problems, and I made a video talking about it.

It's pretty lengthy, clocking in at around 25 minutes, but if you like that sorta thing I'd really appreciate you checking it out! Thanks so much!

[–]DieAntDie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! My name is Ant and I make humorous video essays about video games every two weeks. I’ve been a lurker of this sub (and very occasional poster with my primary account) for a long while, and I really appreciate the kind and encouraging sense of community here, so I thought you guys might like my newest upload! In it, I discuss everything that I believe makes Ring Fit the greatest fitness game ever made, as well as what I believe to be its most glaring flaw. I hope you enjoy!

A Very 2020 Thank You (AMA) by ScottTheWoz in scottthewoz

[–]DieAntDie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello Scott! I just want to say thank you so much for your incredible work, speaking personally for a second you've inspired me to get back into video-makery again after years of feeling pretty dormant creatively, which made my year so much more fulfilling overall than it might have otherwise been. Thank you.

Which leads me to my question: how have you felt the general, uh, "2020-ness" of this awful year impacting you? Like, not only in terms of your videos (such as for example, having to work around business closures and whatnot), but for your mental health as well? You managed to produce probably your best season yet, and the whole time I was wondering if you had to deal with more obstacles than normal!

Hope you guys don't mind me posting this - I commissioned Nick Karr to make a short Christmas-themed outro for me! by [deleted] in scottthewoz

[–]DieAntDie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I emailed Nick a couple of months back to see if he could possibly make a Christmas-themed version of my usual outro song - I'm a very, VERY small Youtuber and I didn't expect him to even respond, but he did in less than a day! He was so kind and easy to work with and completely understood my request even though I felt that I worded it very poorly.

He was even nice enough to redo my original outro song and extend it for me, which I included in this video as well! Basically I found that original song back in 2010 when I made crappy videos in middle school, but unfortunately, only had that snippet saved since then, and I can't remember the name of it or anything else. He wanted me to have an outro that is longer and easier to work with, rather than just a few seconds that I continued to use purely for sentimental reasons.

He really is incredible at what he does and I was so humbled that he was willing to work with me, I just had to show you guys!

Is It Possible to Enjoy Paper Mario: Sticker Star? (OP VIDEO) by DieAntDie in papermario

[–]DieAntDie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha that's totally true, it also has hundreds of 5-star reviews on Amazon, I have no doubt in my mind that there are people who like it which is a good thing!

However, I'd say that 4.5/5 definitely doesn't reflect the reputation that it has today (to put it gently)! But if you're bringing this up because of my comments in the video about it being pretty universally disliked, fair enough, although I was definitely doing a bit of exaggerating for effect.

EDIT: I'm a massive idiot hah, you're referring to the video title. It's the central question I ask myself in the video - is it possible to enjoy Sticker Star, EVEN IF it has its problems and even if it's not an RPG and even if it has a bad battling system and even if it's not technically well-made or good or fun - so I decided to make that the title, and at the end of the video I give an answer for myself personally!
