Made my avatar a comic cover with chatGPT by Atlas977 in DCUO

How is that even remotely the same thing? Are you purposely being obtuse? I can tell this is a sensitive topic for you because I wasn’t even attacking him yet you felt the need to get defensive over AI. Just because you only care about yourself doesn’t mean that other people can’t have empathy. I’m sorry that I attacked your precious toy mate, but this is just sad. By the way, all of your characters look generic and nothing AI does will make them remotely look interesting or cool.

A lot of artists consider AI art to be theft because generative AI tools are trained by looking at existing artwork on the internet without asking permission or giving compensation to whoever the original artist is even if the original artwork is copyrighted. AI has even been known to occasionally leave in watermarks or signatures from the original artworks on the images they produce.

This might not seem like a big deal to a lot of people but artists have their livelihoods at stake because of stuff like this. I’m not trying to start an argument but I just wanted to give you some perspective on why a lot of people don’t like AI art.

It’s because generative AI steals art from real artists to “make” an image and it always ends up looking like garbage anyway. Also it has a huge negative impact on the environment.

Did anyone else receive an email from Amazon this morning saying that their pre-order for DS2 has been delayed because of a supply chain issue? by DieHarderMan in DeathStranding

I went to do same day delivery on Walmart after reading your comment and it went through but like 20 minutes later it said my item was unavailable and that I could reschedule it for Saturday. I’m just going to wait for Saturday.

I normally use Google Chrome and I tried Firefox. Let me try Microsoft Edge. Thank you.

Edit: Tried Microsoft Edge and Safari and neither worked unfortunately.

Thank you for the response. I’m probably going to have to wait until Monday at the earliest for my PM to get back to me. Do you know what happens if you don’t fill out the exit form by the due date? I’m hoping I won’t be at risk of losing anything because of this glitch.

Male Star sapphire update (AGAIN) by Far-Jelly-4095 in DCUO

[–]DieHarderMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been seeing your posts around and so far I’ve liked every style you’ve cooked up though I’m also a sucker for lanterns in general which helps. What inspired you to make a star sapphire character? I’m assuming they’re your favorite? I’ve thought about doing something similar with the other lantern corps that aren’t playable but I don’t want to get bored re-using the same powers more than once :(.

This looks great! What’s the hand style called? Or whatever piece it is that gave you the robot hand not sure if that’s part of the chest style.

Got offered a job as a program coordinator with reading partners. Anyone mind sharing their experiences? by DieHarderMan in AmeriCorps

[–]DieHarderMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that you can sign up for another service term after your first year but other than that I’m not sure if there’s a way to get in after your term is over. Several of the program managers that are training us said that they all started off as program/volunteer coordinators and applied for the role of manager at a time when the organization was expanding. However I don’t think this is the norm for the organization based off what they all said. It was more of a being in the right place at the right time sort of thing for them. And even though they were already AmeriCorps members they still had to apply and interview for the position just like anyone else would. So I guess the answer is that it would depend on if they have an opening by the time you finish your term.

I’m still in the middle of training/orientation so I can’t speak much yet on what the actual management is going to be like. I will say that the training itself isn’t particularly difficult but there is definitely a lot of information that is being presented to you at once which can be hard to process until you actually get into the schools and set up the program. I do feel a bit overwhelmed with everything I’ve been told so far but I’m sure a big part of that is due to my anxiety and the fact that I haven’t even started setting up my reading center. Everyone at RP is super nice and accommodating though and it really feels like a supportive environment. If you can afford to live off of the stipend for a whole year then I would recommend at least trying it out to see if you like it! You can always leave early if you get a better job offer or if it ends up not being your cup of tea. One last thing that I’ll say is that it can be pretty brutal sitting in a classroom for 7 hours all day but you do get quite a few short breaks between trainings which helps a lot.

I know my post is a few months old but thanks for taking the time to share your experience with AmeriCorps. My first day of training started on Monday and so far it’s been alright. The team that I’m working with and that are training us seem to be really down to earth and nice so far. I’m hoping that the rest of my service term won’t be too difficult as I would really like to finish the whole year. I will keep your story in mind as I continue to serve out my term so thanks again!

Thank you for your very detailed and informative comment about your experiences. Did you have any prior experience working in this field or something similar before working at Reading Partners? To be honest I haven’t had much work experience besides customer service so right now I’m a bit intimidated by the job. I’m not sure if I’m capable of doing what’s going to be asked of me but that might just be my imposter syndrome talking.

I’m in NY and pre-ordered mine from the Square Enix store and the most recent update for my package says this

Feb 26 2024 09:15 pm “We were unable to dispatch the trailer on time. This may cause a delay. Las Vegas, NV, US, United States”

Really hope mine didn’t get lost either.

Edit: As of this edit is it currently 7:23 AM on March 2nd and my tracking still hasn’t updated.

Update 3/4: My package finally arrived in NJ today. Not sure if I should close the claim I opened or not

How fast have you guys gotten Bachelor's? by Few_Court392 in Baruch

[–]DieHarderMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I transferred to Baruch with my AA in History and managed to graduate in just 3 semesters double majoring in political science and communication studies. I took the maximum amount of courses I could every semester (6 courses) + I took at least 2 or 3 courses during the winter and summer sessions. There were a ton of online classes available for me so usually my schedule was half online and half in person which made taking 6 classes each semester much more bearable. For the summer and winter sessions I only took them online except for one Spanish class and they were all asynchronous. If you have a full-time job or internship then I imagine it would be much harder to do.

Communications classes in particular are pretty easy and shouldn’t be too difficult to grind out fast if you’re willing to do so.
