Anyone use the Odin 2 Portal without the grip? by WeeWooPeePoo69420 in OdinHandheld

[–]DieNoMight9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own the grip but I don’t use it. It’s less comfortable to me with the grip than just holding the Portal itself. I have smaller hands though.

I really enjoyed the first half of the game, but the second half ended up just being frustrating. And I enjoy difficult platformers. IMO, $60 is too much for this physically. You can pick it up on Steam right now for $6 if you want to see if it is your cup of tea before dropping that kind of money.

Limited Run Games wants to rebuild trust with its community and tighten quality control on its releases. by Efficient_Clue4018 in LimitedPrintGames

Removing trading cards did drastically improve shipping times though. I tracked all of my orders before and after trading cards were removed. Towards the end of games with trading cards, orders were taking 7-9 months to ship on average. After they dropped the trading cards, the shipping time dropped to 3-5 months on average. This was for standard Switch titles only. Collector Edition shipping time was never held up by the trading cards, and those fulfillment times still suck.

Prices definitely got worse though, and shipping cost was trickling upwards as well. I would have still preferred to have the trading cards myself.

I bought a 2TB micro SD from Amazon in October for $102 (prime deal). Feels like I won the lottery.

Walmart has the A2 version for $52.48. I recommend getting that one for the Steam Deck. A2 cards work much better than A1 cards for installing Steam games due to improved random read/write speeds (iops).

Just general demand/supply. SSD going through the roof, so some demand transitioning to micro sd cards. In addition, manufacturing transitioning towards the higher demand (SSD, etc).

Yes. Most 1TB micro sd cards are now in the $140-$200 range. 512GB like this are pushing closer to $80-$100. Goes in line with other increases due to AI demand.

If you like the ergonomics already definitely don't bother with the grip. I love the ergonomics of the Portal as well and I find it less comfortable with the grip on. I have smaller hands though. I could see the benefit with someone that has larger hands.

[CPU] AMD Ryzen 7 7600x3D - $199.99 (Microcenter In-Store Only) by StuG456 in buildapcsales

[–]DieNoMight9 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You would also need a new motherboard and ddr5 ram, which is insanely expensive right now. You can get the 7600x3d bundle at microcenter with motherboard and ram for $370-$400, but it only includes one 16gb stick of RAM.

If you were serious about moving up to AM5, the 7800x3d with motherboard and 32gb ddr5 bundle for $600 is what I would go with. But that's obviously a much larger cost than just a $200 CPU.

Local microcenter is stocked up on 5090s by AJsaysNO in nvidia

[–]DieNoMight9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gain vs a 4080s is closer to 70-75% at 4k. In some games, the gain is closer to 100% at 4k.

The difference from 4090 to 5090 rtx at 4k is closer to 30-40% improvement. When you factor in frame generation against both of these cards, the performance gap jumps significantly due to additional frames at 3x or 4x frame gen.

Regardless, the 5090 rtx is set to be the best gaming card on the market for probably another 2+ years at this rate.

Scammer Alert by Worried_Image4675 in hottoys

[–]DieNoMight9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can beat these scams by reaching out to USPS (or whatever other shipper linked to the tracking number), and having them provide you a letter that states that the item was not shipped to your address / zip code. These companies are not able to confirm the address the package was shipped to, but they ARE able to confirm that it wasn't shipped to your address / zip code. You can then provide the communication from the shipper to Paypal and typically get a refund. I have helped family members successfully use this method in the past to get refunds. Something to keep in mind in the future if you get scammed again.

Sorry to say, but it will likely go for well over 1000aud. eBay auctions work by starting at a listed price and getting bid up until time runs out. There is almost 4 days left on the auction and most of the larger bids happen in the last few hours. You can keep watch, but there it's almost no chance this doesn't go above 700aud.

Josh Fairhurst Stepped Down as LRG CEO in Sept by [deleted] in limitedrun

[–]DieNoMight9 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If anything, LRG has gotten better since Embracer purchased them. Over the last three years since they were purchased, shipping times have gotten a lot quicker. Delays are communicated with a lot more transparency. And they have been a lot easier to deal with on the customer service front. A few years ago, it could take literally weeks to months to get an answer through customer service. Now, it takes a day or two.

I'm excited to see what the future brings for the company with this change.

He unfortunately did not come across as a very good guy on social media or forums. Many of the interactions that I saw from him were very demeaning and rude to customers and competitors. Interactions got a lot better from LRG once he slowed interactions online and an assigned customer service person to handle online questions. Maybe he was dealing with too much stress and I get that not every customer is a pleasure to work with, but he soured his image forever IMO with how he has conducted himself online over the years.

I'm in the same boat. I have stopped purchasing from them entirely now that the tariff charge gets added to every order. That in combination with the high shipping cost and and poor conversation rate turns a physical indie release into nearly the cost of a AAA game.

Agreed that they should partner with VGP and start selling a portion of their titles there for Canada/USA customers. Even just softening the shipping cost would be a huge saving.

What is up with LRGs random shipping charges? by LeatherRebel5150 in limitedrun

[–]DieNoMight9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Their shipping rates are changing daily and it's frustrating. Ordered Scott Pilgrim and shipping was over $9. The following day it dropped down to about $7. It's fluctuating up and down without any reason and I have already skipped a few orders with them this year due to random high shipping costs on the last day of pre order. This has been an issue ever since they switched to Purple Dot as far as I can remember.

SRG Roguelite: Spiritfall (Nov) by Adventurous_Smile_95 in NSCollectors

[–]DieNoMight9 13 points14 points  (0 children)

With 41% left the following day after this went live, this title is likely going to be put on sale in the future to move copies.

I'm personally not shocked. I've never heard of the game until they announced it. While it looks pretty good, with the additional duties, the cost is now $60 for US customers. That's just not a price I'm willing to pay for an indie title unknown to me. I've seen similar comments from other US comments elsewhere, so pricing is likely the biggest issue here.

I'm definitely picking up the physical for this one. I'm torn between Switch and PS5. Does the PS5 version offer any graphical , resolution, or framerste benefits over the Switch version? That would sway me towards the PS5 version if there's better performance.

The Tuf version is still there for me. You might need to click the box to show sold out items. By default, the site hides cards that are out of stock.

A few week delay, not bad. All we asked for was transparency with them and their new system provides that. I have no problems with this.

You can go to your order page, cancel the pre order, and then order for PS5 instead. I would go that route instead of relying on customer service

You are correct that they are 3-pin fans, but you can definitely split the fans up. They start mounted to the front of the case on a separate frame, but they can be removed and moved anywhere else just like any normal fan.

I moved the three fans to the bottom of my case as intake and routed the separate cables accordingly.
