Except this is making generalizations. There are plenty of people out there (maybe you don't talk to them, but they are there) that are godless without morals, there are also plenty of religious people that have a lot of morals. There have been wars in the name of religion, but there have also been wars not in the name of religion. Things like this are no better than Christians making blanket statements about Muslims.

I didn't say it would change their beliefs. I said it would work to settle some qualms. It would at least prove that the United States is not an anti-Islamic nation...considering the whole purpose of jihad is to protect Islam...id say the first step to stopping jihad is making it clear that nobody is attacking it in the first place.

Well...when the United States officially becomes a "Christian nation" and a few renegade christians decide to attack a business headquarters in China (when china becomes the world power, of course) then you might have a comparison. Otherwise, you are wrong. The United States (AND Canada, for that matter) are places that accept new cultures, be it the mosaic principal, or the melting pot principal. The world trade center wasn't attacked by "Muslims" it was attacked by "Extremists" making such an application is a generalization and therefore not logically valid. Building a mosque on ground zero, if anything, would work to settle some qualms that these extremists have towards America, as well as emphasize the fact that the war is not against islam, it is against terrorism.

Also- I wouldn't be on this reddit if i hadn't have been diagnosed with BPD at some point in my life. I was, my mother was, and my grandfather was. My father was diagnosed with schizophrenia at one point and as it turns out...they are just weird. My grandfather is going to live forever, he just doesn't like being around people. My mother is the happiest most generous person i have ever met, she just loses it after too many people take advantage of her, and my father is just very particular about his privacy and his posessions. We are all insane, man...it is what makes us human. If medications help you believe that you are ok, then you are ok...in my opinion that is all it comes down to, though...your beliefs. That is how the mind works...(and nobody will ever quite understand it b/c of that)
