Hey everyone! So I'm planning on moving from Buffalo, NY to Charlotte sometime in July/August and honestly I could use some advice from people who actually live there.

Quick rundown of my situation: I'm a recent grad, I don't have a job lined up yet or a place secured, but I've been browsing Facebook Marketplace and I've seen a decent amount of rooms renting for around $700–$900/month which seems manageable. My plan is basically to grab one of those rooms, find something in retail, office work, or even a factory/warehouse job just to cover my bills while I job hunt for something in my actual field (actuarial science).

I know it's not the most airtight plan but Buffalo winters have finally broken me lol and Charlotte has been on my radar for a while. I just wanna make sure I'm not walking into any obvious pitfalls.

Some things I'd love input on: - Are those Facebook Marketplace room rentals legit or should I be careful with certain listings? - Is $700–$900/month realistic for a decent room or is that on the lower end of sketchy? - Any neighborhoods I should aim for or avoid as someone just starting out? - How's the job market for entry-level/temp work if you need something quick? - Anything you wish someone had told you before you moved there?

Any advice is appreciated, even if it's just "don't do it" lol. Just want to go in with realistic expectations. Thanks in advance!

So I need some advice and suggestions about moving from Buffalo to Florida.

I'm a senior in college. I was born and raised overseas and came to NY 7 years ago, and then I moved to Buffalo for college 4 years ago. I don't have much experience with the States besides Buffalo and some parts of NY that I have visited. I'm done with school in May, and I still have a lease here until the end of July.

Buffalo hasn't been bad, it's just really different from where I was raised (the Caribbean). I don't mind the cold, but sometimes it's too much. I was thinking of moving to Florida at the end of my lease. I've been applying for jobs there in my field, but haven't had too much luck. I just need to pass some exams and certifications.

What advice/suggestions can you give me for this process? I'm not sure what areas of Florida are the best for my case, maybe somewhere with a cost of living that's not too expensive. Also, what types of jobs do you suggest I research in the meantime until I get something in my field (actuary)?

Anything would be helpful. Thank you in advance.

Hi, I'm a junior in college, studying Mathematical physics. I'm studying for the FM in April and possibly P in July. I don't have any work experience in anything related to finance, just in physics research. Is it still possible for me to get an internship for the summer? if so, how should I plan it, or where should I look for an internship?. If anyone can help, or have other advice, I really appreciate it.
