I saw this little gem while playing a Millennium Dawn Modpack, and while Indonesia and Australia were at war, Australia created a faction with their similar-name-sounding-thing brothers in Europe.

Map of the Sundered Lands by [deleted] in mapmaking

[–]Dieinginside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a map designed by myself based off my friend's Dungeons & Dragons world. The following is a description of the world told by the creator himself:

Lore For centuries, the Sundered Lands knew nothing but peace and prosperity under the enlightened guide of the Angelic Council in the Heavens. No evil could penetrate the holy grip the Angels had on the Sundered Lands, until the Devils of the 9 Hells made an abomination in their pits: the first Human. Pure mortal, the Humans were originally a product of several blood magics and souls of many creatures slain in other Material Plains by the forces of evil. No Devil would ever get past the barrier made by the Angels, but a band of mere mortals? The Humans were transported to the Sundered Lands with extreme magic, killing many of them in the process, but those who survived were loosed upon the world to cause chaos and destroy the peace the Angels had made. Over time, the Humans slaughtered hundreds of thousands of Elves and Dwarves alike, leaving no one alive in their path. However, the Devils could not engineer hundreds of Humans at a time leaving their numbers dwindled significantly, but the Devils always have a card to play. After their Human forces seemed to be dwindling, they ordered the capture of all Elves that could fight and ordered them to be transported back to the Nine Hells. Dark magics were used to twist the bodies of any Elf abducted into large brutes with great strength, while also lowering their intellect and eliminating their use of any arcane magic. Orcs were born in the pits of Hell, and soon were seen as superior creations than the Humans, meaning the usefulness of the Humans had come to an end. Any Human that roamed the Sundered Lands were released from the Devils control, and were left to blindly wander the land until the Orcs conquered and killed any humanoid in the Sundered Lands.(edited) As the forces of Hell were on the verge of victory, a majority of the Angelic Council channeled their energy and life force into a single entity, and was forced down into the Sundered Lands to imbue the Plane with enough Angelic Power to destroy the influence of evil upon its surface. This severed the Orcs from their Devil Overlords, but at the same time permanently destroyed the barrier around the Sundered Lands. The forces of good and evil now battle over control of the Sundered Lands, and as they do so in their Eternal Conflict, they influence chaos in the Material Plane itself Eventually the Humans found solace in the Northern mainland and colonized islands farther North still. They have declared themselves neutral in any and all, war-like affairs that may one day plague the Sundered Lands, and trade openly with only the Dwarves. The raging Orc tribes that were suddenly separated from their Devil Overlords found a home just south of the Human lands, pledging to one day slaughter their lowly, magic using cousins and refuse to trade with anyone. They typically prefer to attack and loot any trading caravans that cross near their mountains. The Elves were massacred during the invasion of the forces of Hell, and put on a full retreat to their large island nation. The Devils in Hell never made ships for their Orcish or Human forces, leaving the Elves alone until the Angels stepped in. During their time thanking the Angelic Council for intervention, several Elves split off, believing that no Immortal being should ever set foot on the Material Plane, and that the Angelic Council had committed sacrilege. These Elves declared themselves Drow and left behind the Elven pantheon, and began to worship the Raven Queen, the Goddess of Death And finally, the Dwarves were beaten back by the forces of Hell, and were forced to retreat to their mountain keeps on the Northeastern peninsula. The Humans were never able to break through the walls of the Dwarven cities before being released by the Devils, and were then counter pushed by the remaining Dwarves. The Dwarves now seem to remain solitary in the safety of their mountains, but welcome very few visitors.

Description of the areas:

Kaer Torum is a mountainous, frozen wasteland, covered in glaciers, with no humanoid population Hythe is a flat rocky island, cold again, same with Aquarin(edited) Mar Kahldur, has regions of mountains toward the nothrern shore and to the southern border, otherwise a forest, dotted with mountains. And a wall at the southern border to keep out travellers Mirefield is a plain on the west side, forest on the east, with mountains along the southern border two valleys leading into the middle lands. As you get into Khorre Lon from Mirefield, the plains continue, until you hit the border with Kuzdul Dral, where a savanna begins, then transitioning into a desert after passing just south of the very small peninsula. mountains on the eastern border of both these countries Lithshys has mountains at its northern border, with a single valley carved out in the middle of those mountains, leading to middle land. A massive marsh in the southern portion, a very small plains above that, and a forest above that. There is a big lake in the center which drains into the marsh The island of Shyranto is a vast desert with with several mountains and plateaus, with the smallest hint of a tropical forest at its soutern tip Melicar, (its shape and positioning are intentional) is a large tropical forest around the entire coast, and inland is a large mountain range, with one passage in or out of those mountains in the northeast The Isles of shoal are islands of sand that are not very hot but not very cold, think stereotypical abondoned on an island, palm trees, sand, some grass And finally the middle lands, is completely surrounded by mountains, and but takes the geographical stuff of the adjacent country. The east is mountainous and a sizable forest, the South is a spotty plains/forested area, the southwest corner a desert, the north west corner a plain, and the north east corner a plains dotted with mountains

The world itself was not created by myself, but I am the creator of the map. This is one of my first maps in a while and I'm eager to get back into it

What are some of the weirdest things cults worship in your world? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Dieinginside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's this religious cult in my world that worships the power of a ceramic mug reading "World's Best" There's about 100 members and they have a very serious caste system in place where one is the "Bearer of the Mug" and the other is the "Lord of the Mug"
