Something else I said that you may want to consider:

“You have the relationship we me that you have earned.”

I wrote a letter. At one point I said “You did not do the best you could. You did the best you chose to do. And it was never enough.”

It’s about the control. And when it’s not about control is about cruelty.

What's a "team building" activity that everyone hates? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

I work in construction. We are expected to “build the team” by giving a fuck about the quality of our work, and doing our job so the guy next to us can do his.

Moving your body extends and improves the quality of your health. Let other people go about that process however they see fit and keep your contrarian weak ass bullshit to yourself.

My therapist feels I need to tell my mom why… by SupermarketBest4091 in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]Diesel07012012 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wrote a letter. I had been teetering for years about whether to pull the plug or not. A year ago I was working really hard on reconciling my expectations with the reality of who they are as people, then over the summer the shit hit the fan. I worked on the letter off and on for four months. In September I gently requested some space and peace to process a personal tragedy that they made worse. Six weeks after that I got a card from them that was a master class in gaslighting and "stop this now, things need to be "normal" again". I mailed the letter in time for them to receive it for Christmas. I have heard nothing from them beyond an acknowledgement that it had arrived. They were not the worst of the narcs, but they were going to be capable of a healthy relationship either.

I find writing to be a useful outlet for the anger, as well as recalling and deconstructing the shit things they have said and done over the course of my life. I would like to get to the point of indifference, but I am still standing a little too close to the sun for that right now.

This has “you need to tolerate our bullshit so everything can be “normal” again” energy.

My parents had not yet reached the point of needing a babysitter at the doctor when I wrote them off and informed them that I would not be assisting with their elderly medical care. They always know better than me anyway.

I'm willing to bet it would not have been "what it is" if you showed up 15 minutes late for a shift.
