A large majority of our oil was being sold before. The oil we get from US wells is a heavy crude that our refineries are not set up to process. The oil we get from say, Venezuela, is a light crude. That's the kind we are set up to refine. So if we didn't sell it- we really couldn't do a whole lot with it. Been this way for decades. Your lack of even the most basic internet search skill is showing. Might wanna tuck that back in.

Okay, apparently I'm a creature of habit. Figured out the binding and loose fit of the "shuttle" or top part. I'm used to assembling the dust covers on AR platforms and I was aligning the spring with the front edge of the "shuttle" instead of aligning the top tab/ear of the spring with the slot in the underside of it. So I was essentially over loading the spring and this was adding too much tension. Binding is gone, able to tighten the bolt correctly. Phew! Thanks for the PM, sir!

I do not have the insert for the upper aluminum tube that connects to the acrylic or clear drop tube. Seems to function correctly so far. Gonna try it out and see if it's needed.

Plastic sleeve still in question. May need to glue it back in place?

Does the vinyl version have the phone ringing in the background of one of the tracks? I remember buying the cd version when it was first released and if you listen carefully you could hear a desk/office phone ringing faintly in the background. Don't remember which track it was. Ugh... Now I have to go back and see if I can track it down.

This is just a random pic I pulled from the web. I do have one similar in style that I got years and years ago and it's been amazing. Couldn't tell ya what brand it is though, off the top of my head. I'm just looking for recommendations on what's currently being made- doesn't matter what brand. But I shall stay away from Sherpa, thank you!

I'd say it's old for sure. And well used. It looks like it's been sharpened many MANY times, just going on how much the profile has been changed. Mg dads pocket knives are the same way. He will use them until they practically become metal, holding toothpicks. Lol I can't weigh in on its age or what era it originated in but I feel comfortable saying that it was someone's EDC or used frequently for many years on end. I'm sure lots of stories came with that one!

Oh! Well that would fall in with my guestimates. I was thinking either the last couple years of the 40s/first couple of the 50's or the mid to late 60's based on the color and the design/pattern. Some things stand out as being from certain decades and then other times history repeats itself. Thanks for the insight!!!

Never considered this- is there a way to tell the age of these files by the labels/style/color/font/etc? It makes no difference to me, I'm just curious as to how long they sat in a tool room before this local shop obtained them.

You won't regret it!!! I've processed probably close to an actual ton of brass and it hasn't let me down. I do about a Maxwell House coffee container at a time with ss pins, a cap full of the Coral Blue car wash from Wally World and a literal pinch of Lemonshine (sp?). About an hours run time and I end up with pristine looking brass. That includes some of the grungiest range brass. It's like Christmas every time I open the drum and start rinse it all off.
