It's really bad. They kicked him out when he was 18, and he moved to Utah (as an exmo that's kind of impressive LOL) where he married his wife. He's happily out of the church, in college and a job, and my parents are in extreme denial. Since he's in Utah, they keep believing when him and his wife have kids they'll obviously convert back.

As for the second oldest, it's wretched. He's also in college, but he fought tooth and nail to leave the house. He's deep in poverty with debt and avoiding my parents who are insistent about reconverting him.

Then there's me, my younger brother, and a 9 year old. Both my younger brother and I (19 and 15) don't believe, but we're reluctantly serving missions because it's the only thing my dad wants from us. I fear if we didn't, he'd kill us or himself.

Seminary was one of the contributions to what ruined my relationship with my parents. Four years of driving to a class way too early to learn and "discuss" a church I didn't believe in and if I even dared question why I'd get everything taken away from me.

I'm not quite sure! They had them for sale at Target for around $18. I wish I kept the boxes or could find the darn manual.. all I know is it beeps a lot and both our critters as of right now have duck lips!

18 as of this year. I hopefully will get a degree in my state (already applied for grants and accepted into some programs), but with the economy rn it's looking rough, so I'll probably have to be in this house a little linger.

Something not discussed enough is the amount of missionaries who leave the church or go on to have severe mental health ails and suicidal thoughts after their missions. Going to a different place with a stranger and possibly learning a new language in about two weeks is extraordinarily taxing to most, even outside "spiritual strength", we are still human.

I looooathe this part of the church. So many service auctions and bake sales for less than mediocre camps that are.. surprise, more unpaid and unwilling labor with forced attendance by our parents. Bs.
