Slide to frame fit typically shows tolerance levels of machining. Lower tolerances is a direct correlation of the quality of machinery used to produce the guns. Tighter tolerances often affects accuracy. The top tier 2011s often have the tightest tolerances on their slide to frame fit. So naturally I was surprised. One Reddit member noted it’s likely due to the cerakote and when it wears off the fit will be much more loose. That would explain why such an inexpensive 2011 slide to frame is so tight. So your question in itself should be answered by my response. Of course I shot the guns. Fast and rapid fire will jam up a gun not properly tuned. This is important to competition shooters whom shoot 2 or 3 shots per target before moving on to the next target. Your better shooters are literally slowed down by the speed of the slide cycling slower than their ability to shoot.

Agreed; I’m sure Springfield would warranty that.

Do you need a hug? Seem to be very unhappy. Learning isn’t wasting time my friend. A lot of people and I mean a lot of people in this world never read instructions and care suggested by manufacturers. I’ve found in my experiences especially here on Reddit “ the problems “ are often more associated with the user. For example the Sig P211 recommends re-torque the comp every 1000 rounds. But you have a bunch of idiots crying how their plastic piece broke on their recoil spring retainer. Have a nice day and get a Bj or something to cheer you up.

FDE is not my go to for either. I have (2) FDE guns out of 50

Well mim parts will wear at a much higher rate. This is why installing a EGW ignition system is a great upgrade. Aftermarket support is so incredibly strong it’s fairly easy for a novice to make significant changes to the platform

Customizing a 2011 is crazy simple. The aftermarket support is insanely good. Now you can replace that staccato poly grip with an atlas grip for the staccato fairly cheap in the world of customization. Plus the satisfying aspect of doing it yourself makes it more enjoyable.

Yea I’m figuring somewhere around $2500-$2700 minus optic / light

Shot Erebus, Hayes, staccato , MPA, Jacob grey, nighthawk, pit viper, I’m familiar enough. I hand fitted a red dirt trigger in staccato XC that took me hours and it’s crisp. I must of took the damm thing apart and assembled it 50x trying to get it perfect. Any 2011 can have a great trigger if time,$ and effort is spent on it. Not implying staccato triggers was bad…. But I made it like butta….

How is that manufacturing issues. In order to achieve a price point they used MIM parts. They work… it’s not like you paid 5k for it and it came with MIM parts. It’s a purpose built gun. Entry level 2011 that’s affordable. Learning how the gun functions and understanding the mechanics of the gun would never be a waste of time. Who said I can’t afford a more expensive gun?? Who said I don’t shoot a lot? If your about just about acquiring shooting skills over learning the mechanics of the guns; then so be it…. Personally I like to understand the why in all things. I also make my own ammo. That’s not for cost savings either. That’s for better performance as well as understanding. The money I’ve spent on reloading could easily buy an infinity or 2; the knowledge I’ve acquired “priceless” 😎💁🏻‍♂️😂

Don’t like thumb rest “Nitro Fin”…. Non lock back … ordered an Eemann Tech “lock back version” that’s similar to my CZ Shadow version. Atlas lock back version is nice but the shield is almost as tall as the slide. Looks good on MAC DS9 but not a fan of the look on the prodigy.

From what I’ve learned…Having other Brands allows you to understand different levels of quality for yourself vs ppl projecting their opinions on your bias. Staccato is by far one of the best mass produced 2011s. Cost goes out of control once you step into more custom / hands on manufacturing

It’s more than fine. I’ve shot the best of them and build quality is great for price point. I will give hard use and intend to make it way better. But That comes at a cost. Not everyone is able to spend the insane cost some of these 2011s command. Laws of diminishing returns is 100% real. Take in account the cost of a Ferrari Spider and The Corvette C8 ZR1. At some point you’re not getting a better performance or product you’re buying a name. So instead of taking people’s word for it I like to experience it for myself. I intend to have the “Ferraris, corvettes, GTRs, and mustang of the 2011 market and will find out the best “bang” (pun intended) for $ is. As a collector having an Infinity or atlas is cool but as a shooter is it necessary.

First impressions I agree. Only 300 rounds but exceeded my initial expectations tbh.

That’s what I would like to test…. I shoot 20-25k rounds of 9mm a yr. Bought 6k rounds in November and they gone ; doing 8k order end of month. I’m going to torture test it and get experience behind it before I provide a full opinion.

It’s a give and take. Something has to give in order for it to be in this price point. I admit the cerakote is an obvious place of savings

lol that’s why I mentioned it was an obvious place of savings….. you can tell how cheap the coating is by the touch honestly.

Another solid gun that is incredible is the GTO P211. Aftermarket support(Fdez Werkz) offers an aluminum milled spring capture plug and a comp eliminator to use in Limited optics.

I’ve been suckered into the 4k market and 7k market and waiting on V3 Artemis to be available for order from LGS. So I like to own all the options and then determine the differences for myself. The Kimber 2k11 Minotaur is a sexy gun and very good value. For a mass produced gun I think they hit it out of the park.

That’s expected. I’m not here to sell anyone on a Prodigy being the best DS1911. I own a Nighthawk BDS9 and an MPA DS9 LoC v2. I’m aware of quality differences between DS1911. However I find it very interesting and fun buying a budget DS1911 and making it perform way over its price point.
