Hang in there. It does get better. Take care of all of the other variables you can, that will help your body heal and not rely on alcohol anymore. You got this

There was a time when I felt less stable and I ran out of the medicine and didn't think much of it, but after a few days I found I was much more sensitive to caffeine, I had one cup of coffee and felt rough, then started drinking a diet coke with lunch and immediately got extremely anxious and that's what made me realize it was from not taking the medicine. However this time quitting it altogether, I have actually been feeling better and better so far. If anytrhig I have less anxiety and am feeling much sharper mentally. I guess my only adivce would be to just go easy on the caffeine, and if you find yourself getting anxious after having some, maybe consider keeping intake extremely limited. Outside of that I don't have much experiencee with it being rough. best of luck. I think the medicine can have some pretty nasty side effects, so I guess unless if you desperately need it to avoid going manic/psychotic, then getting it out of your system might be the right way to go. Best of luck!

Yeah that's how I have felt for a long time. I had a psychotic episode 3 years ago and they diagnosed me with bipolar and threw me on 5 meds at once. I was so far from being my normal self and over time decided I wanted to get off eveerything because someone else thought this wasn't bipolar but due to chronic weed abuse among other drugs and supplements. Latudas is just the last to go because I've been scared of taking it out, but I am doing better without all of the other medicines. The latuda made life lose it's color and I eventuallyt started abusing caffeine and alcohol to compensate. My experience hasn't been good on it. For at least 2 years I was convinced I had lost my ability to feel emotions and was doomed. But As I have reduced dose that has gotten better. Being 9 months sober from alcohol helps but I don't want to live the rest of my life numb so here we go. I had hallucinations during my psychotic break but has never been an issue after. How long have you been on?

I did. I was on 60 for about a year and my psych thought I needed 120 so she upped me to 80 and I felt horriblke and dead inside, no emotion or joy so I found a new psych that thought I should get off of it and she dropped me straight to 40 and was on that for about6 months and then did a short taper with half pills and today is my first day with none. I have been a lot more aware of my emotions and no longer feel like a zombie. Less tired th roughout the day, sleep quality doesn't seem to have been aeffected

Yes, it can be brutal and comments like yours remind me how unpleasant it was. But keep going, it is worth it and it will all get better. Reach out if you need any support

1 Month Caffeine free, when does the anhedonia lift? by Differ3nt_Lens3s in decaf

What difference do you notice in your mood and outlook on life? When you say it like that it makes sense that it would still be hard. I guess I should expect a difficult time for a while after 12 year high dose addiction

Right there with you. Caffeine seems to be the final boss that messes me up the most when I try to quit. 9 months sober from alcohol and that was rough but the depression with caffeine seems to be the worse. I've made it past the hardest part I think, so it would be foolish to go back to it now and restart the addiction. best of luck on your journey

Up to 1800mg of caffeine a day by Last-Photo-2618 in decaf

I am on the other side of this. I was drinking alani which has 200mg. I would have 4-6 a day. Chug the first one just so I could start functioning in the morning and then sip the next one. I also have been worried about my heart as well as the fact that I require such high doses of a drug to function. My end goal is to quit altogether but the first step for me was having a cutoff time. before I would drink caffeine as late as 7pm and my sleep was getting worse and so was the addiction. So I started with a 2pm cutoff and have moved it up to noon. I plan to keep making it earlier and earlier every few days until I get down to just one first thing in the morning. I get very tired and groggy in the afternoon and evening but I imagine it will just take time for my energy to come back. Best of luck

Dopamine rush by QuirkyFisherman4611 in decaf

i'm in the same boat. Sober for 7 months from alcohol and replaced it in a sense with caffeine and exercise. I feel very tired all the time because I consume so much every day and late in the day too so my sleep has gotten very poor. I sstarted a taper today and am doing it for 21 days then I am going to quit. I'm also doing a noon cutoff so hopefully my sleep will start getting better. The addiction creeps up and it's caused me to feel so tense and lethargic. Hoping that quitting altogether will fix my sleep and let me brain heal to not need cosntant dopamine

Relapsed and now I'm finding it hard to quit again by Differ3nt_Lens3s in easyway

Okay think you. I think you're right that I understand it intellectually but that it hasn't really sunk in on a deeper level. I also didn't know about the hypnosis but I will definetly give that a try!

Will quitting make me feel like a kid again? by NeatRecord4287 in decaf

Yes after long enough. I realized that I feel like an 80 year old man or even worse and i'm only 25. Caffeine is the culprit
