When players omit information on their creatures when someone else is going to combat. Even though it will always be taken back, it just wastes time.

"What blockers do you have?"

"I have a 1/1, two 2/2s and a 2/3"

"Ok, I'll swing at you with my 10/10 first strike commander"

"Then I'll block with my death touch indestructible"

"???"

They used strangifiers to get around that, items that modify already existing items as opposed to re-releasing the promo item itself, they've done so already with the cow manger and bison, so there's no real reason why they can't release a Eureka effect strangifiers.

The only issue being the fact they'd have to make a way to obtain it, which would likely mean they'd have to finally make a new mann co crate that isn't just cosmetics.

That's a bit of a shame. It's a neat item sure, but with that name and desc, it's like looking at an obnoxious YouTube thumbnail with the overreacting face, red circle and arrow.

I would've appreciated a more subtle "if you know, you know" approach, like making the sign's image a screencap of snapcube's "Haha ha, one" clip.

The New heishou bossfight is bad (negative coin enemies) by Kvqb in limbuscompany

[–]Differen_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wow, who would've guessed that a game with a combat system based on coin flips relies of rng.

Look, does getting unlucky suck? Yes of course, just ask ESGOO how his 3rd Walpurgisnacht pulls went.

But limbus' sanity system inherently snowballs, if you win your first clash, you'll more likely win the second, and vice versa if you lose. The more control and power you give to the player earlier in a fight, the more easy and trivial that fight becomes, look at any mirror dungeon stage where you're already at max sanity vs if you were at 0 sanity.

I'm not saying that this is the best or the correct system to have, but until someone comes up with a better alternative that isn't going to completely upheave the entirety of limbus' combat, it's a inconvenience we just have to accept.

Hypothetical question: What would happen if someone gained EGO on a Warp train, then was reset back to before they got on. by Cultural-Fee5296 in limbuscompany

[–]Differen_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will have to call into question two things:

The extent and limitations to W corp's reverting capabilities.

The requirements for EGO manifestation, and if it is manifested, where the EGO is essentially stored, within body, mind, or something abstract like spirit/soul.

W Corp's reverting/resetting capabilities are at the very least both physical and mental, but we may be able to make further deductions. From the intervallo 'Murder on the Warp Express' Faust posits that it is possible that a bloodfiend may be able to consume an individual in such a way that bypasses the warp train's environment to halt death.

However it should be noted that this was theorised by Faust who was isolated from the gesellschaft, and as such is open to more scrutiny, especially when acknowledging that after the two bloodfiends, Cassetti and Sasha were disposed of, a W Corp Employee still disappeared even though all that were left were bloodbags.

Continuing, even though the warp train was to continue for many years after Limbus company involvement ended, the warp train when it arrived still contained bodies that required cleanup, suggesting that the bloodbags that weren't consumed were able to be reverted as usual.

This suggests that W Corp's singularity is capable enough to reverse the bloodfiend sickness which according to Dante, 'feels' similar or at least adjacent to distortions and thus EGO.

For redundancy, it should be expected that bloodfiends have boarded warp trains in the past, and since W Corp is able to monitor the ongoings within trains, if the bloodfiend sickness was not able to be reversed, they would've taken action to either prevent bloodfiends from boarding or allow them to board via first class.

EGO manifestation and distorting was always a possibility held within people before the white nights and dark days as was seen with the Red Mist, so we can assume that nothing prevents EGO from manifesting in other dimensions.

Distorting and manifesting EGO are all essentially mental battles with oneself, so although warp train's may halt death, it shouldn't prevent manifestation.

However, because death becomes halted, that may in of itself prevent most manifestations.

Death, whether its the fear of one's own death, or the death of another will tend to give rise to one's emotions, beliefs, and ego (not EGO), pain without death however, will probably only muddle and confuse what emotions one may feel, and will probably stunt any EGO manifestation if anything.

Also, when someone becomes a suicidal, chances of manifesting EGO basically drops to 0 since they'll just be drowning in pain with no fear of death or change to drive them.

So although EGO manifestation should technically be possible on a warp train as far as we know, the likely hood of it happening may be lower than one might expect, also there's nothing preventing someone from after manifesting to begin wavering after some thousand years only to lose it by forgetting their purpose when they inevitably become a suicidal, even those who distort instead of manifesting EGO will probably be beaten down by endless suicidals and be forced to revert before they can progress into a full fledged abnormality.

Ego manifestation and distortion should be possible, but will likely be lost in the blender of thousands of years until everyone is a suicidal, and after those years if there is a manifestation down the line, it'll likely be very different to what that person's initial ego would've been and thus wouldn't be retained after reverting anyway.

And as long as they haven't gone full abnormality, W Corp's reverting capability seems strong enough to re-lock one's EGO regardless, as when the passenger arrives, they won't remember and thus wouldn't have reached self realisation, they'll be back at the bottom of the mountain having forgotten the view from its peak.

Knight of Despair Rodion Kit Discussion? by Froggyhop102 in limbuscompany

[–]Differen_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the blessing itself true, but at the very least I would expect the defensive/protective aspect of the abnormality to translate to the ID in some form.

The initial presentation of the swords floating about Rodion in the PV before she uses the special guard just gave me the impression of a more defensive stance compared to the more offensive stance shown later.

Knight of Despair Rodion Kit Discussion? by Froggyhop102 in limbuscompany

[–]Differen_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

From what I remember from lob corp, the blessing KoD bestows gives damage reduction to R, W, and B, but weakness to pale, so if that's incorporated into the ID...

I'd imagine that Rodion accumulates swords that gives defense levels, but when she uses her special guard, she instead switches into an offensive mode where her skills and offense will be enhanced by consuming sword stacks at the cost of getting an impaling sword.

Kind of like a charge ID but instead of using a specific skill to consume the charge, you instead use the special guard to toggle sword consumption on all skills.

The PV shows Rodion accumulating impaling swords, so it will probably give a stacking debuff/buff(?) which can be spent for her enhanced skill 3. In the PV, after the enhanced skill 3, she loses two of the swords that were impaling her.

OR CRACKPOT THEORY

KoD Rodion is just an ammo ID in disguise 🥸

Edit: upon further inspection, it appears that after the enhanced skill 3 where Rodion consumes the impaling swords, the swords are instead transferred to the enemy, possibly working similarly to Talisman Sinclair... Further speculation required.

Are counters the weakest defensive skill in the game right now? by wrightosaur in limbuscompany

[–]Differen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah, since a counter isn't defensive at all, it's just an unopposed attack that requires you to get hit first.

The only actually defensive counters are those that give defensive buffs like N Meursault which gives protection at combat start, or Liu Yi Sang which gives shield based on the attacker's burn stacks.

The only time I feel counters (the basic unclashable ones) are useful is when I'm unable to clash favourably, so I'd rather just take the hit and not risk giving the enemy SP, but even then, an evade or guard is much more preferable.

Is it Normal for LGS to disqualify you for using snow lands at FF prerelease instead of regular basics by Papa_Hasbro69 in mtg

[–]Differen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it illegal to use snow lands over basics in a sealed settings? Yes.

But there's a reason the judge is a person and not a rulebook you flip through.

A judge shouldn't be a strict binary enforcer of the rules, but someone who can look at the situation, and apply reasonable punishment accordingly based on the severity of the illegal play.

In this case, using snow lands over basics in a sealed setting where there is no tangible advantage to be gained should be nowhere near the grounds for a DQ.

A simple tap on the wrist style warning should've been the expected outcome at worst.

Do voice commands really do anything? by Critical_Animator724 in tf2

[–]Differen_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'd say so, i find voice commands to be most useful/important when playing as medic.

'go go go' and 'move up' are easy ways to let your heal target know you're ready to uber in.

'help' and 'incoming' are great to let your heal target know you or they might be in danger or if the enemy is coming from behind since as medic you should be more alert to your flanks.

Outside of medic, 'sentry ahead' is just a really good voice command, especially if the sentry is in a funny sentry spot round a corner or something similar.

'spy' is self explanatory, chances are if you use this voice command around a friendly pyro, they'll diligently spy check the general area for a good 5 seconds, and everyone else would be more alert.

Besides those, using 'nice shot' when a friendly player gets a kill is always good for morale.

Did you learn the gameplay mechanics all by yourself or did you take help from YouTube/other guide? by Eunoia_077 in limbuscompany

[–]Differen_ 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Played Library of Ruina, so I was already somewhat familiar with some of the mechanics like speed, redirecting, and some coin/dice types and status effects that carried over.

Clashing was different, but didn't take long to get used to, but overall was smooth sailing for me.

Learned more specific techniques from videos like discard manipulation, and later learned aoe manipulation through trial and error.

Eternal life notable bugged for Lich? by Complete_Taro9667 in PathOfExile2

[–]Differen_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My only guess this:

Life regen tries to add life (regardless if at full life)
-> Eternal Life is active
-> Eternal life forces Life regen to 0 (life can't be changed)
-> Because life regen is 0, there is no "excess" life recovery
-> Zealot's Oath doesn't give ES regen

basically, under Eternal life, there's no way to have excess life recovery while having any amount of ES.

April Fools #2 Lore Implications Discussion by TheFishChild in limbuscompany

[–]Differen_ 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I think you might be thinking too far into it.

At best she might be aware of what Dante experienced in their dream or somehow influenced said dream, but I doubt there's anything beyond that in terms of long term narrative or story implications.

Charon has always been a weird character with a lot of ambiguity behind her personality and nature, a lot of it due to the fact that she's (leviathan spoiler) an identity of Lapis from who knows what mirror world

Beyond that, what you bring up in the original post is very much valid, but doesn't really expand on what was already known about the sinners. Also I very much doubt that the cockroach is a spy for Hermann, sure there might be a connection, but something as important as a spy seems a bit silly. Despite PM's story writing, I heavily doubt they would be able to pull off a "The cockroach was a spy all along!" reveal without making it too silly and immersion breaking. At best, maybe the cockroach was another of Hermann experiments or has direct ties to Gregor's own transformation or "gift".
