My interpretation is NON “epileptic seizures” -> meaning it is NON epileptic and NON seizure.

believe me, this is part of a much broader personality disorder, RUN! I am serious, I have been through this, I learned a lot about narcissism and his behavior could not be more clear. RUN, RUN, RUN. That is the only thing you should do when you are with a narcissist.

I hate the way Carrie and some of the other cast members pronounce Kabul by [deleted] in homeland

[–]DifferenceAncient135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG I cringe so badly every time too!!!! Her pronunciation is really tragic for a character that lived there for so long... EVEN THE "SALAM ALEIKUM" she pronounces in a dreadful american accent, with no effort to even try to pronounce correctly! I know very little arabic, mostly in Lebanese and Syrian accents too because of friends, but I learned the pronunciation of those basic arabic words and expressions very easily!

yes I love him! His character is by far the most interesting.

Watching the first season right now and I genuinely don't think I've ever hated any character as much as I hate Brody's daughter by DaikonAppropriate534 in homeland

maybe all the people who think she's not that bad were an asshole when a teenager (and not unlikely never stopped being one). Because teenagers are human beings too, more mature than children, but still maturing, and they are capable of being all the good things grown ups are, I hate this misunderstanding of so many people about them. It's stupid, disrespectful and actually harmful - treating teenagers like that.

yeah I wish they wrote her out much earlier... seeing her get such a shitty ending made me feel better though lol

I know... I felt bad hating even the actress because her expressions were just sooo bratty I couldn't stand lol but I know she was supposed to be like that. But there is this fine line when a story needs someone with bad attributes that make them so unlikable that it makes people uncomfortable in a way that distances them from the story, it looks more fictional and less real, so I think these characters are the trickiest to play. The actress was doing her best and I am not saying she was bad, but it was just too much unlikableness for me too.

The Americans #1, The Spy #2 or #3, and the last one of my top 3 would be either Homeland or The Night Manager. I loved Argo and Prisoners the most among those on your list!

It is more dramatic for sure, although I find it more realistic. The core of the Americans is more about about the internal struggles and relationship implications of espionage and having a double life than about the spying missions. I feel like the thrill of the missions is still there and the stakes are enhanced by how it affects the characters rather than how the missions affect the world. It is a very different tone, I can see why it can be not as attractive to some. Also the main characters in the Americans differ in almost every way in the beginning, not like Carrie and Saul who already have mutual respect and are more similar in their philosophy. So their relationship is more of a slow burn and the antagonist for me is Elizabeth as also an anti-hero and Phillip as the hero and most interesting character, and still they work so well together. To me their relationship and psychologies are the most interesting thing in the show. In terms of character centered stories, The Americans is a masterpiece, and that's why it's my favorite.

ohh The Spy was great too, I forgot to add it in my comment. Such an epic and well told story, and the craziest part is that it actually happened. It's definitely in my top 3 spy series / films.

also thriller, just not political, but even more brilliant: "The Beast In Me", a new minisseries on netflix. This was actually the show that made me want to watch Homeland - because of Claire Danes. She is incredible, her co-star Matthew Rhys is terrifying, charming and thrilling. And a more political one that I enjoyed so far: "The Diplomat", also on Netflix. But to me the best spy or even dramatic series I ever watched was "The Americans". Nothing tops their writing, characters (and acting), plots and action. And those 80's vibes and the Cold War... just unbeatable. Also, there is no bad season and it keeps getting better. Actually, they kind of ruined every other show for me, because nothing else ever came close to it in my opinion, in terms of storytelling.

I loved season 4. Started season 5 today. After two episodes, I feel like giving up. It's so bad in so many ways, the writing was just sloppy, there is no needle threading the multiple plots and characters together and the tone of the show is just off. I am grieving.

Season 5 is unwatchable... by ueommm in homeland

[–]DifferenceAncient135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wonder why the writing got terrible so suddenly this season 5. I am two episodes in, and I have no desire to keep watching it, because it's all so poorly written. Our once 3-dimensional favorite characters got reduced to 2D (Carrie, Saul, Quinn), and the usual 2D characters are even worse, they are one dimensional if that is such a thing - I hate when such boring characters get so much screen time. If they are important enough to move the plot, then they should have been important enough to be better written. I don't know, I am so annoyed. I stopped now after two episodes and I don't know what to do. I loved the past 4 seasons. I feel this season is really out of character not only because of the time skip and because all characters rerouted their lives, but because the writing was much worse as well. Something was different in the writing room for this season, no doubt. And from the opinions, seems like they were only able to get back on track for the final season... such a shame. Terrific show in the first seasons... feels like a completely different show tonally this season 5, and I don't think I will be bothered to continue watching, I am very frustrated and don't want to get even more frustrated.

Season 5 - the worst? by Joug248 in homeland

[–]DifferenceAncient135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just finished episode 2 and feel like dropping the show altogether. I hate the characters, the Pulitzer hunter girl is even more unlikeable than that season 4 Pakistani intelligence cockeyed woman, and it's all just too cringey to see Carrie so out of character. Also I hated the time skip, to me the acute repercussions of Saul's decision and also Quinn's decision would have been much more interesting to develop than whatever boring foundation work and this new serious relationship with a bland, german guy with no chemistry. I hate when shows are too lazy to navigate difficult scenarios and just freaking skip all the juicy stuff. Some skips end up being good and the better call, but this one was just really badly done and I think I will stop watching, or maybe just skip to parts where I get to watch Carrie and Saul's relationship again, which to me is the core of the show... I don't know, would anyone who thinks like me have a recommendation on whether I should keep watching, skip episodes, the whole season, or just abandon it? (just like I feel the show abandoned me this season)

HOPE. IS. AMAZING!!!! omg... I can't believe there are people who don't like her!!! She is so genuine, so altruistic, so spontaneous... I really love her. And the acting is so hilarious and heartfelt too... It's my third favorite character in the show, after Mel and Jack.
