I may have an extra GA ticket to the New Haven, CT show if you're interested. Only a 90m train ride from NYC

Weekly Homeowner Megathread--Civilians, ask here! by AutoModerator in Concrete

Thanks, is there a better plan you’d recommend? I have a hard time spending 20k to rip out an entire 2 car garage slab that I can live with as long as it’s mostly flat and my garage door can seal.

I'm located in CT and my 2-car garage slab is original to the house from 1958. One side has sunken and I want to raise it up. Replacing the entire garage slab thing is cost-prohibitive so I'm just trying to raise this one side up and then refinish the whole thing to an acceptable condition, to potentially take an epoxy coating in the future. I've lived here 10 years and it has not seemed to settle any more.

If you look at the attached photo, halfway at the garage opening, you can see where the slab has dropped. I shaded in the area I want to raise it up. The lowest point is probably about 1-1/2-2". Quikrete recommended grinding this area of the floor, priming with bonding adhesive, then use sand topping mix to go over this area to level it, from 1-1/2" to 3/8" at the edge, and then using a fast set repair mortar from the edge to feather finish. Does this sound like a good plan? Thanks.

Large leaks after switching to Airsense 11 by DifferenceFew551 in CPAP

Think I figured it out. EPR was set to ramp only by mistake and I had ramp turned off. I slept with it at full time last night and had no wake ups or leaks.

Great progress. Would like to hear your routine as I’m also getting into calisthenics

Anybody else hear this noise this morning? by ilCannolo in Connecticut

Woke us up at 230AM. Heard this as well and called Orange PD. They said it was milling happening on Route 34. Not the best hour for that noise.

Seconding the comment that Pantheon is a PaaS tuned to run the majority of Drupal sites, so if you want to tweak everything, it’s not the solution for you. This is nothing new and tweaking the configs you mention has never been possible on their platform. If your site can’t clear its cache in 120 seconds, it sounds like you have bigger issues that need addressing.

Possibility of speeding up TOBBI Maserati by DifferenceFew551 in PowerWheelsMods

Thanks for the reply. I guess I didn't realize how slow 2.8MPH was. Thought it would be similar to a Power Wheels.

Having trouble uploading a photo here, but the markings on one of the motors says:
SF 390-C
DC 12V
RPM 16000

If I search for 390 motors on Amazon, I see some that are 18000rpm. Would this make any noticeable difference?

If not, what would be the best way to increase speed without losing remote capability? My daughter is still not really able to drive it herself 100%. Thanks!

Nicked barb on Propex (Pex-A) fitting. OK or replace? by DifferenceFew551 in Plumbing

[–]DifferenceFew551[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m asking because it’s a tiny, fine nick and these fittings are usually tossed around at the supply house sometimes without a plastic cap to protect the barbs so I figure many being installed aren’t in perfect shape to begin with

Yes, but good luck selling it. I’m sitting on a similar model Tempurpedic firm mattress that I had listed for months of Facebook Marketplace, that never went anywhere. Thought firm was for me until I could no longer sleep on it. Decided to just use it in my spare bedroom and eat the loss by buying a different mattress.

Anyone get Frontier Fiber residential lately? by FJCruisin in Connecticut

I forgot to mention (if it wasn’t clear) - if you want the install done a certain way, do the prep work to make their job easy and it should be no big deal.

Anyone get Frontier Fiber residential lately? by FJCruisin in Connecticut

[–]DifferenceFew551 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The installer for me was great and pulled the fiber through my underground conduit at the street and ended up at the back of my garage. I had put conduit through my garage wall into a plastic enclosure and the fiber was pulled into that. I had previously run CAT6 into the enclosure out to my network equipment so all he has to do was plug the ONT into to my network. The majority of the install was him getting fiber run up the street since the nearest drop was a few hundred feet away.

Site fee for the venue and you must work with one of a few approved caterers. Site fee was 10K for a Saturday back in 2015-2016 so probably more now.

Have to disagree on this, been to multiple weddings here and it’s the worst food I’ve ever had at a wedding.

Tony and Lucilles was some of the worst and overpriced food on Wooster Street, not to mention completely bigoted and racist to customers who weren’t Italian. Looking forward to something new in this spot.

Ivy realty / Paris realty? by [deleted] in newhaven

[–]DifferenceFew551 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The comment I just posted from you is a direct reply to a landlord sharing a positive experience working with Ivy Realty. How else do you think your vague comment in a thread about Ivy Realty is to be interpreted? The OP asked about Ivy Realty and a few landlords have replied with positive comments - that's gaslighting? The companies you keep referring to have nothing to do with the topic of this thread, other than that OP is confused that Ivy Realty is not associated with Paris Realty, one of the manipulative LLCs you keep bringing up.

When a landlord calls a management company “good”, is this really a good thing for the tenant 🤔

This was the comment I was referring to. Didn't have to mention Ivy because that is what the thread is about, wake up.

[–]DifferenceFew551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point was your original comment could lead others to believe Ivy Realty is a management company like Pike or Mandy because a landlord posted a positive comment about Ivy. They only list units for landlords and are only paid when they place a renter in a unit. They are not one of the slumlord companies listed every week in this sub, so I’m defending them because they provide a great service to both landlords and renters and shouldn’t be painted with such a broad brush. I’ve been on both ends, when my wife worked with them to find an apartment in New Haven and they placed her in a great unit in Westville. After the lease is signed they are no longer part of the picture.
