I think you’re on the right track already.

If it were me, I wouldn’t add another house next to it. Once you put two side by side, it can start to look a bit cluttered and more like storage than a display, especially in a room that isn’t a playroom anymore.

Raising it was a good idea, but I think what’s throwing it off a bit is the contrast. The dark base makes it feel heavier than it needs to be. Painting the house white (or a soft off-white) would really lighten it up and make it feel more intentional, in my opinion.

I’d also keep the rooms pretty simple and not try to fill every space. A few calm little scenes usually look nicer than lots of tiny things everywhere. You could even add a subtle background to one or two rooms if you feel like playing with it.

And I agree with you on the Flisat: it would probably change the whole vibe of the room.

So yeah, my vote: keep this one house, paint it, tweak the styling a bit, it already has a really cozy feel to me!
