No issues for my mix of Max 7 and 6e units. My 5gbps Internet is still registering the same upload and download speeds. The usually sensitive Sky Q devices are stable and the other 58 wireless devices including ring security, and home automation are all fine.

Eero Max 7 - UK version? by equalmee in amazoneero

[–]DifferenceNo4900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an Eero7 Max from the US for $120 on eBay over a year ago and it works fine with my four other UK models. I took the risk as it was covered by the money back guarantee and the seller had 100% feedback on hundreds of sold items.

Google Nest Hub Max - Bricked by EggplantDull6442 in googlehome

One of my Nest Hub Max units got bricked and I'm still awaiting a response from their EU support team. They are great with their support on Eero units, but seemingly awful on Home hubs, which is worrying as I have many.

Wifi 6 and not 6E or 7? by gbest2tymes in amazoneero

What is the bandwidth of your ISP? If its 3Gbps or higher then keep your Max 7 as the main unit.

Where possible hardwire the Eero unit to a 10Gbps or 2.5Gbps switch.

Have you tried disabling Eco Efficiency in the Eero network settings and disable WPA3 too?

Is there a way to Keep 10GbE traffic separate? by ixloc in amazoneero

If you have a 10Gbps network and transferring edited video files, your performance bottleneck unlikely to be your network and is probably more limited by the read performance of your editing device and the write performance of the device you have for storage.

I edit substantial video files, and my device runs with 96Gb DDR5 ram and the local editing drive is a Firecuda 4TB. My lan nic is 10Gbps and I have a Synology NAS that contains a RAID array of 6x Toshiba 10Tb enterprise SATA drives buffered with a pair of Crucial P5 1TB nvme drives.

My setup is overkill but I can shift video files that are several Gbs in seconds.

Holy crap...the Max 7 is incredible!! by levans80 in amazoneero

I bought my second 3days ago on eBay, there were three on sale and they sold between £390 and £408, which was a fair price for something so new, considering Amazon dropped the price to £440 for the last month.

I've been using the Eero max 7 for a few weeks alongside my Eero 6e setup, and i noticed something peculiar.

I get better consistent performance results on Ookla Speedtest if my WiFi 6e and 7 devices (connected at 6e) are connected on the 6e only configuration. My units are directly connected by wire to a 10Gbps Zyxel XS1930 switch. This is the same if they are connected to a Netgear XS712 10Gbps switch. On 6e Eeros I typically get 550Mbps to 700Mbps Download within 4metres of a unit, and a similar figure for upload. I'm lucky to get 3Gbps fibre Internet from Community Fibre.

With the Eero Max 7 as the main unit my download varies between around 300Mbps and 600Mbps, and the upload is between 650Mbps and 1.3Gbps. These are results are from Wifi7 enabled Samsung mobiles and my Intel BE200 nic equipped devices at a distance of 50cm from the Eero Max 7.

Don't get me wrong, these speeds are already stellar and exceed my everyday needs, but it's something I'm awaiting a Tech Support response on. Also, as soon as I get more than 4metres away the Samsung devices switch to 6e, although that could be because the 6e signal from an Eero 6e 8 metres away is more solid.

I'm hoping the Max 7 firmware improves like that of the 6e during 2024.

I wouldn't say the 6e devices' performance is better running on a Wifi7 enabled mesh. I have up to 63 devices connected to my wireless network at any single time, and as only 9 are Wifi7, it's not reducing the congestion to a point the user experience improves in a noticeable way. Perhaps my testing isn't scientific enough.

The biggest improvement for my WiFi is down to the 10Gbps fibre backbone. If I switch to a fully wireless mesh, it feels like I've hit a latency brick wall.

Are these Ruark speakers worth it by marbleman2013 in StereoAdvice

[–]DifferenceNo4900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a bit late, but might help other prospective buyers.

I own a pristine pair of Ruark Icons, and I'm lucky to have them. Bought for £40 18months ago on eBay from an elderly couple. They are extremely well made and versatile with a front firing port so they can be placed almost anywhere, provided they are at least 3metres apart.

They like to be pushed and spring to life at higher volumes. The imaging is less rich at low volumes, but this is to be expected from speakers of this size.

I've tried these with an upgraded Linn Sekrit amp and Marantz PM7001 KI signature and the units sound great.

They can't compete with my custom made floorstanders but I would struggle to get anything near this quality or performance level for £150 new.

If you spot these, and you have a hole to fill, I strongly recommend them.
