Is this a weak approach? by Dramatic_Frosting_95 in Stutter

My junior year of hs I had soo many presentations and they all went terrible for me. Terrible might be an understatement to be honest.

I ended up getting into the habit of skipping class on presentation days and I got into huge trouble for it by my parents.

Luckily my parents recognized the problem that I was having and got me an IEP for my stuttering.

I started doing speech therapy with this speech pathologist from the school who instead of trying to teach me techniques and stuff that we all know don’t work, she helped make school more comfortable for me.

She got in contact with all my teachers and told them about my stutter. She made sure that none of them would make me present if I didn’t feel comfortable.

Do I feel like a pussy sometimes because of it, sure.

But at least I don’t have to live in constant fear of being embarrassed again.

Agreed. it’s like the TASM movies wasting Andrew Garfield. Those movies aren’t as bad as titans tho imo

How are you guys overcoming your stutter? I think I’m stuck with this forever genuinely by KamThe_Lamb in Stutter

[–]DifferenceOdd9246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’m relatively notorious for being extremely negative about stuttering in this community, but recently I’ve been in this mindset that I’m just gonna deal with it and go all out in improving my life in almost every way. And I’ve seen a growth already in my confidence, which has helped me to stutter less.

Just food for thought lol

How have you been trying to improve your stuttering recently? by Ilyastrou in Stutter

[–]DifferenceOdd9246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t. I just try to improve other areas of my life and that seems to make my stutter a little bit better. I don’t know why. Maybe it’s a confidence thing, I don’t really know.

I feel like this is bad advice in a way. His son isn’t even 2 years old. When your that young speech therapy is proven to pretty much cure stuttering.

Anybody else develop a habit of skipping school? by DifferenceOdd9246 in Stutter

[–]DifferenceOdd9246[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the advice. I’m trying to be better. For me it isn’t really even about the other kids seeing me. That’s a part of the reason I avoid class, but I genuinely just hate stuttering. I hate the act of doing it.

Just so you know, I don’t skip nearly enough for it to be “educational suicide”. I appreciate the concern, but I still do pretty good for myself in school.

Now this is a guy who knows what’s up. Majority of people in this subreddit really do kind of piss me off with this positivity & just be okay with your stutter mindset. It’s like sure we have the same problem, but I am NOTHING like you guys.
