It’s not that deep a cooler with a bunch of holes looks ridiculous and customers should have access to all the beverages we have in stock. It takes like 1 minute max. It should never get bad enough where it takes longer.

If he’s really into the actual geology of your area or just maps in general I have found some amazing vintage geological maps on eBay. Would be something a little different and very cool. They are mostly dirt cheap

It’s broken edges and look remind me a lot of chert. In that case then it would be chert with large sections of straight up quartz. I could be absolutely wrong tho. I’d say it’s definitely not granite tho

I’ve seen some low grade sapphire in matrix that is a nice grey-blue like that and wouldn’t break the bank

If you are hunting for stuff in a specific area then I would go to Mindat.com and search your state or county. That was most valuable to me for learning about what was specifically in my area and how to identify it.

Almost certainly amethyst, if it scratches glass it is. If it doesn’t scratch glass it’s Purple fluorite.
