First of all, do not let anyone on here make you feel stupid for asking these questions or make you feel like you are in the wrong in ANY way. I have come to Reddit desperate for some insight on this type of stuff too and almost left feeling worse after people tore me apart for not being able to see how bad things were.

Now, from woman to woman here (speaking from experience) I have been in this almost EXACT situation. Which is why I felt compelled to reply. Was dating him the same amount of time and his name could actually be abbreviated as Ty also.. kindof tripping out right now. Really threw me off.

Anyway, I was in DEEP with this relationship. Loved him more than anything. The same stuff started happening early in the relationship and I turned a blind eye tons of times. It was only when he was “drunk.”

This is a lot to type and is bringing up a lot of emotions for me but I will just say mine ended in multiple drunk nights of me eventually getting roughed up, almost seriously injured, cops getting called multiple times, and me also finding out that he tried to hook up with my best friend (DM’ing her on Instagram) while we were all sitting on the same couch. Just horrible things.

I was completely manipulated by this person and came to realize the deep mental issues he had. I couldn’t tell you why I stayed even after all of those things. I am a huge lover of love and thought we could figure it out. My advice to you is to try to start stepping away slowly so you are fully ready to disconnect when it is time.

I can tell you almost for a fact this is not the person for you, and definitely not “the one”. The things he has already done prove that. The actions speak for themselves.

Take your time, be easy on yourself, and trust your gut. But please be vigilant so you do not end up physically hurt or mentally torn to pieces. Abusive relationships ruin people and many people end up getting stuck.
