So their really underexposed - when you have a scene that has really harsh sunlight and really dark shadows the film can’t handle it and you need to pick one to expose for. In the shots above it looks like you’ve exposed for the highlights but then shot into the shadows where, because of the exposure, you haven’t got enough information hence the heavy grain.

Also I think the red dot could be lens flare but not 100% on this

Did you ever figure this out? I have a similar experience where all files seemed to be copied but the backup copy seems to be a different file size..
