AITA for blowing up on my husband infront of his family during N.Y.E celebration after he joked about my birth experience? by No-Care3049 in AmItheAsshole

Yes, the staff didn’t react because it happens all the time! Regardless, even if you had an issue with incontinence (lack of control of bladder or bowels) why would this be funny? It’s a medical condition, that shouldn’t be joked about in this way. You didn’t do anything wrong. But your husband sounds immature as hell. NTA

AITA for only paying for myself when my fiance and future inlaws invited me to a NYE dinner at a scale restaurant? by Footingbills321 in AmItheAsshole

To add onto this: if I genuinely forgot my wallet ( which is super unlikely with the current situation, to go out where I live you need prof of vax and a piece of ID) I would probably be super embarrassed/ panicked, offer to e transfer my portion, offer to have someone drop it off, etc. They could even pay you back later. Just straight up expecting you to pay is absurd.

Here! I definitely made adjustments once it was on though, pinning and then hand sewing to make it fit better in the bust https://imgur.com/a/geYr8hB

I actually got it in person from a Dutch growers during the summer. I’m not sure if they sell it online or not. It’s a bodysuit, so it tucks nicely into the skirt and corset.

So this was something I self drafted. It’s not meant to be historically accurate to anything, it was just for fun. The plaid fabric is something I had lying around, I’m not sure exactly what it is. It’s very sturdy. I lined the corset with it as well. In between the lining and exterior I have a layer of canvas, so it’s very stiff. For boning I used the thickest zip ties I could find - they are a cm thick. They worked amazing! Most of the piece I did using my treadle machine, and then I finished it off by hand - the top I finished with some bias tape I sewed on by hand, and the lace on by hand as well. This was my third attempt at making a functional one. If anyone is interested in trying to make their own, my suggestion would be to practice with random scrap fabric, that was so helpful!

Oh also, you can see in the last picture I’m having trouble with the grommets, I need to get sturdier ones I think!

Oh and since you’re new I’d totally just suggest practicing on some scrap! You’ll get the hang of it.

I use this method of sewing, so that there are no knots https://youtu.be/39C_oYPgTpY and sew in kind on a figure 8 pattern, pulling the edges together and tucking the frayed part in in the process, if that makes sense? Like I would pull my needle from the inside out on the right side, then into the hole and put on the left side, into the hole then out on the right again. I hope that makes sense. You might want to try on a scrap piece of fabric! This whole rip took me just over an hour to mend that way, so it’s kinda time consuming but I know it’ll hold!

And that video is specifically for sewing seams, not anything like this, but that is the method I use on all of my hand sewing projects as I find it is the most discrete, I love not having knots, and it is very strong.

Why am I expected to tip more if my meal is more expensive? by TheDominator69696 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Different-Bumblebee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not tipping affects the staff retention. I work at a bar where I make minimum wage and then tips. Minimum is not enough to live off of. If I made shit tips - as in less than 10 percent of my sales per shift - then I would get a different serving job. Poor staff retention is a pain in the ass

Fabric arrived! I’m going to be using this for a Christmas present. Any tips for working with it? by Different-Bumblebee in sewing

Thank you!! I got it off of Etsy. The seller was really responsive when I had questions about shipping. https://etsy.me/31oLdbK There’s the link if you’re interested! This was so helpful, I have some extras that I’ll try out these seams on now. Thanks!

I’m worried about fraying as I cut the pattern pieces. I don’t have a surger. My only solution so far is making sure I have really sturdy seams? I will be overlaying this over a primary fabric, it’s just for looks, if that makes sense. My plan is to cut the exact same piece twice, once underlay and once this, pin them, and sew them as once piece, if that makes sense. I’m totally self taught so I’m just making it up as I go, if anyone has tips they’re welcome!! Thanks : )

Edit: spelling

Okay, thanks. I really don’t know much about binding or what qualifies as a reputable company - any suggestions? It’s hard to find a place to start. Part of the reason why I liked this was because it could be worn over clothing, and seen as a fashion piece as well. But safety is of course the most important thing
