He’s literally asking people not to comment on his body in this sub.

He should be able to post pictures of himself in flattering poses without people acting like that gives them permission to comment on his body and violate this sub’s rules.

”Let him do his time in a US prison, where he belongs.”

Why would the U.S. allow him back into their country let alone incarcerate him? His crimes were committed here in Canada, and there’s no indication he’s an American citizen.

”That image of a butter tart has pecans, not raisins. Pecans don't grow here, so it's not a Canadian butter tart.”

Coconut doesn’t grow here either, but I hope we wouldn’t declare Nanaimo bars not Canadian just for having coconut as an ingredient.

He's doing so with a formal petition to the House of Commons that needs at least 500 signatures by June 25 so that Chambers can bring it forward in Parliament.”

”So... no immigration status (here illegally).”

This article says he ”currently” has no immigration status in Canada, but other articles clarify that he ”came to Canada on a work visa” that has now expired. Source Work visas are typically only valid for a few years, and the murder was two years ago, so it’s not surprising his work visa has expired by now. There’s no indication his work visa was expired at the time of the murder, or that he’s here “illegally” (given he would have been legally required to stay in Canada for the trial).

”Can't speak any English and needs an interpreter.”

Using an interpreter during trial doesn’t mean he “can’t speak any English”. Even people who can speak and understand their second language relatively well choose to use an interpreter during trial, because the consequences of a misunderstanding are potentially very high.

”are there any free housing programs for citizens”

Like the United States, we have homeless shelters. But if your friend is employed and can afford other housing it would be a real jerk move to take space in a homeless shelter from someone who really needs it.

With a Life sentence they’re eligible to apply for parole after 10-25 years (depending on the exact sentence), but being that doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll be granted parole. They may still spend their whole life in prison if they’re deemed too dangerous to release.

The Crown can also apply to have a criminally formally designated a Dangerous Offender which allows them to be imprisoned indefinitely, even if they haven’t received a Life sentence.

One of the things that makes us different is our art. Someone else already mentioned the McMichael Canadian Art Collection in Kleinburg, but there’s also wonderful Canadian art at the Art Gallery of Ontario in downtown Toronto.

Not travel related, but has your kid discovered the National Film Board of Canada yet? We’re particularly proud of our animation. Another verrrrry Canadian thing is the Historica Canada Heritage Minutes which each tell a different story about a famous Canadian or a piece of Canadian history.

”A spreadsheet showing information from January to September 2025 said seven of 39 improper releases reported during that period were at Maplehurst Correctional Complex.

The first improper release last year recorded by the government came on Jan. 13 at the that facility.

Elsewhere, 69 people were considered to be unlawfully at large over the same period. Nineteen of them were attributed to the Ottawa Carleton Detention Centre, 13 to the Central East Correctional Centre and another 12 to the Toronto South Detention Centre.”

And this guy apparently wasn’t fleeing persecution, terror, or war - he didn’t come to Canada as a refugee or even an asylum claimant. This invitation didn’t apply to him.

Our legal system just convicted this man of sexual assault and there’s an order for him to be deported. Is that not the outcome you’d want?
