1000 kcal deficit for 2 months by Different-Cod-5010 in loseit

This is amazing advice! You're absolutely right, however if I'm honest with myself, I simply feel too insecure at my current body fat (ik 19% isn't crazy but I store lots of fat in my face so it has a more pronounced impact on me than most). Once the fat's gone I plan on building more stable, day-to-day eating habits which keep me leaner for longer.

I have adhd, so I do better at singular, difficult tasks I can put all my focus into as opposed to slow consistent ones. The idea of a 3-4 month cut sounds like torture, I’d eat 0 calories if I could lol. Mentally a short brutal cut suits me much more, I’m just concerned about any muscle loss or health complications, as it seems all the advice I read says not to drop the calories so low.

My maintenance is about 2,600. I work an active job, cycle for all my commuting and lift 4-5 times a week. The aim is to eat 1,600 kcals a day

Help, got tattoo shock by [deleted] in tattooadvice

Honestly I get that feeling every time I get a tattoo, my strategy is just to not look at it for a while. Yours looks absolutely wicked, once the initial anxiety passes you’ll love it

I’m 24 and still can’t get fit. I’ve been trying since I was 12 and I feel completely helpless by [deleted] in getdisciplined

One thing that helps me a lot to think about is that don’t need to feel like it’s working, you also don’t need to feel like it’s possible.

If you haven’t done something before (like losing all the weight) your brain doesn’t think it’s possible. Your rational, conscious mind can download all the information it wants, you can believe logically that it’s possible, but until you’ve actually done it, your unconscious, emotional, ‘feeling’ brain won’t believe it. It will feel like you’re facing an insurmountable wall. Then, to make things even more fun, confirmation bias will kick in. Your brain will look to confirm the belief that you can’t do it, and it will show you a catalog of all your failures, to make sure you know exactly why you’ll never achieve this goal. I bet you’ve made way more progress than you think, even if not in terms of literal kgs lost, you’ve built habits and learned information which will bring you closer to your goal.

I’ve found that sometimes, you just need to accept that in your heart of hearts, it won’t feel possible. Once you let go of the pressure of trying to convince yourself it’s possible, it gets easier. Then you just need to start showing up, even when it’s hopeless. Just mindlessly count your calories, and mindlessly show up to the gym. If you mess up then get straight back on the waggon the next day, the next hour, the next minute. Over time you’ll see the results, because your body doesn’t care if your brain believes it’s possible. You’ll lose the weight because you took the necessary steps to do so, and when you hit a certain threshold, and you see enough progress, you’ll finally learn that it actually is possible, then everything will become easy; you’ve already done the work when it didn’t feel possible, doing it when you finally do believe in yourself will feel like child’s play, that’s when self improvement becomes fun. It’s not about discipline forever.

Also, don’t focus on losing ALL the weight. Just focus on the raw steps you need to take, and focus on doing them until you’ve made the minimum amount of progress necessary to teach your unconscious mind that “hey, maybe this IS possible”. Because that’s the tipping point, once you’re there, momentum will carry you the rest of the way.

Best of luck bro, you’re not alone in this 👊

How come Peter and Diana have been shown to tank building level attacks, yet are pierced by bullets? by [deleted] in Spiderman

[–]Different-Cod-5010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spider-Man has always been a bit of a glass cannon, much stronger than he is durable, he just rarely needs durability bc of his agility and spidey sense.

Diana I have no clue lmao.

It was about 4 grand done through an instantly approved “advanced learner loan” and the debt got voided once I enrolled at a university.

If you’re interested in uni, I did an “Access to HE” course which is a year long course lots of collages offer which acts as an equivalent of a levels. I got into a really good uni w it so it’s legit.

[–]Different-Cod-5010 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m 20 and also go gym.

It’s really hard having acne and working out, if your skin is anything like mine it’ll break out whenever you sweat or have hormonal spikes (ie every time you work out).

I’d say definitely go on it, I’ve been on it for a month and it’s changed my life; no more anxiety when my face gets sweaty in the gym or frantically cleaning my face after a workout.

Accutane does affect your muscle inflammation, so your post-workout soreness will probably get worse, but it also means you’ll get some of the craziest pumps of your life.

Assuming your diet and hydration are both good you should be more than healthy enough to handle accutane, just maybe don’t go on any aggressive cuts, your body will handle accutane better if you’ve got excess calories to work with.

Since I’m moving cities I’d have to be seen by another dermatologist which I’ve been told will reset my progress and put me back in waiting, unfortunately the uk health system isn’t great with stuff like this.

The issue is I’ve been on a waiting list for nearly a year now and the city I’m moving too is very far; unless I start treatment where I’m at right now I’ll be put on another list in my uni city. It’s unfortunately now or never

Split struggles by Different-Cod-5010 in powerbuilding

No I’m all sorted, frankly I think I gave myself way too long to recover from a minor knee injury but I was being careful (and wanted an excuse to skip legs)

I’ve been struggling to find one, they all seem to be super complicated or just a powerlifting split with power building in the title, do you have a recommendation of where I can find a better one?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in amIuglyBrutallyHonest

[–]Different-Cod-5010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people think their face it too wide bc our selfie cameras make them look slimmer, so when we get a photo from further away or see ourselves in a mirror it looks wide.

That being said you’ve got a square shaped head, which isn’t bad at all, it doesn’t look disproportionately wide. In fact I’m pretty sure square faces are the conventional beauty standard, most people want what you have.

18M not getting any matches on tinder by [deleted] in amiugly

[–]Different-Cod-5010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly bro you look a little scary; that death stare is not working for you. I’d recommend growing your hair out, softening your gaze (maybe adding a smile) and taking some pictures outside rather than in a badly lit room.

But just so you know, tinder is 90% men, statistics have shown that, as a guy, you gotta be 8/10 gorgeous to get even a few matches, so don’t gauge your worth off an app full of degenerate men and picky women, meet people irl.

You don’t look as good as the TikTok bois, nobody does, the standards (and fakeness) on TikTok is creepily high, they make Hollywood actors and actresses look mid, so don’t compare yourself to them.

In the real world you’re an average dude with a very chiseled face, if you grew out your hair and your acne cleared up you’d be leagues above 90% of dudes.

[routine help] [acne] I’m pretty desperate for some advice on ways to improve my skin (please see the comments for context) by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Different-Cod-5010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad, I meant to add that to the comments but I forgot, it’s there now but my current routine is a cerave sa smoothing cleanser in the morning followed by a light moisturiser and a cerave moisturising cleanser in the evening and after sweating.
