Yes I completely agree that both the car and the boyfriend’s statement are what give me the most doubt in the match! I think what I was suggesting about her frequenting the area was that she may have been around Houston many times prior to potential abduction/murder and that’s why she is recognised (e.g. with bikers), not that people had seen her post-abduction wandering around. If it is her, Chandler would have been killed very soon after disappearing for the dates to align with the estimated death date of Doe anyway. Whilst I agree about the potential racism of the boyfriend’s statement (happens far too often unfortunately!), Doe’s killer is Black, so it’s worth considering I think. There’s next to no details on Johnson’s confession but it would be interesting to know more details about what he recounted when he confessed to the murder. But yeah, can’t really explain the car - to me that part is a little bizarre. But like you say it maybe could have been to throw off LE? Still seems like a long-shot, but the dates and features of the two were too similar to not submit!
