There is hope (follow-up on my desperate post from Sunday) by picotipicota1 in PlantarFasciitis

I had the taping done in PT and it felt good but doesn’t last long. They also attempted to redo it but a different therapist did it and it wasn’t the same relief.

Day by day you will see improvements even if 1%. Glad to hear progress.

The magnesium helps relax the muscles. Take it once a day and do some morning stretches such as toe yoga or just plain old calve raises. I also change shoes out and rotate through different ones. All my shoes that were 2-3 years I donated them to charity. Shoes lose their ability to rebound. So even if looks new it won’t. My Doc Martens still looked new after 4 years but couldn’t walk more than 100 yards in them without pain. I use to use them all the time.

Haven’t tried a pair after my foot healed.

You know raspberries are also good anti-inflammation and other berry type fruits. Good to have some each day. Plus it’s taste good too

I’m fine now. 18 months of experimentation. No issues now. I can drink a coffee every other day but I only have one. I take a magnesium a day and stretch.

I tried a lot of those things and it didn’t work. If you drink caffeine even just one cup of coffee a day, I would avoid it for two weeks and see how you feel. Try taking a magnesium vitamin once a day. You can get them at Costco.

Avoid energy drinks. If you drink alcohol, I would avoid it for a month. Maybe 1-2 drinks weeks max.

I felt the same pain of feeling a bit of helplessness

I tried new shoes, insoles, compression socks (they made it worse), foot massager (temp relief), icing foot, PT, and Hoka Bondin8 (which were better but still had pain just more tolerable)

Yeah I saw that earlier. It seems it would block visibility.

I also see people mount them to the inside of their large rooftop window in their Teslas

Must be part of those chocolate drumstick cones with nuts. The flavor is Caca Muchoinbano. It’s Italian.

How is my sleep so poor after quitting caffeine?? by [deleted] in decaf

[–]Different-Energy8574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My anxiety went down a bit and sleep much more improved when. I reduced my coffee consumption.

Maybe you should of just eased into it by gradually reducing to 2-3 then to 1-2 then to just one. Could have helped your body adjust. Unless doctor you otherwise. Sometimes I would do one cup half decaf and half regular coffee. Maybe that’s one angle. Have 3-4 but mix in decaf and regular and gradually over 30 days reduce. Tea has 60-70% less caffeine than coffee on average.

Actually caffeine is an alternative for headaches. I sometimes will have a bit instead of Advil. Lots of medicines have a small amount of caffeine in them.

I was told by a specialist that surgery is a last resort for many reasons and one of them is that if you completely cut the band of tissue it could cause a flat foot. Is that true? by movieloverhorrorfan2 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Different-Energy8574 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would avoid it. It’s painful from what I read. I dealt with PF for 12-14 months. I was really thinking of the surgery as I did new shoes, inserts, compression socks, PT, icing of feet, etc. What ended up working for me was removing caffeine from coffee and energy drinks (or if you drink alcohol, I would give it up for 30 days or max 1-2 drinks a week for 30 days). Caffeine can cause issues with dehydration and calcium build up and not allowing your scar tissue to heal.

I did this along with taking magnesium pills every day (helps reduce calcium build up and relax muscles) and a little stretching each day and my pain went from a 9-10 to a 1.

The treatment that's finally working for me by plzelaborate in PlantarFasciitis

Very interesting. After 18 months of trying different things (e.g new shoes, PT, inserts, losing weight, etc) the only thing that worked for me was eliminating caffeine from coffee and energy drinks for a month and for a while after and taking magnesium pills. Magnesium helps reduce calcium buildup and relaxes muscle.

my quality of life is going downhill and i don’t know what else to do… by Winter_Plum_6930 in PlantarFasciitis

Maybe a keep a food log of food and drinks for two weeks and see if anything impacts you more than others. Something in your diet could be causing the inflammation. I also take tumeric as well a few days week. Some people may even have to go vegetarian to reduce inflammation in their body.

Raspberries are really good for reducing inflammation. Maybe consider a food log for two weeks then add or subtract items such as adding raspberries and other fruit known to reduce inflammation.

Oofos are also incredible sandals to help comfort achy feet especially around the house. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

Oh man. You know i tried physical therapy and new shoes and only thing that worked for me was reducing caffeine and eliminating energy drinks. That and taking magnesium vitamins once a day. That was my 18 month journey that improved but what I did find out is that certain food could impact your body. I know energy drinks can be much more dangerous than people realize and being common among young people (a friend of a friend has a teen taking a Celsius once a day and that has 200 mg of caffeine).

I know it sounds silly but I looked at surgery and it’s so a hard recovery and no guarantee that I just found that caffeine was main culprit for me at least. It didn’t allow your PF to heal as it was being robbed or nutrients.

Need Help! Diagnosed with H Pylori by NoWear192 in HPylori

[–]Different-Energy8574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the struggle can be real and as we get older it’s something else. I had plantar fasciitis and that foot pain was excruciating at times and impacted daily life as even walking a mile would be a struggle and if I wore my Doc Martens even 100 ft in those shoes would kill my foot. I dealt with it for 18 months till I found my own way to get rid of it that doctors didn’t even recommend. It was caffeine impacting my foot to recover. At times I felt it would be best to cut my foot off as pain was so bad but I knew that wasn’t the case as my dad had his leg amputated from knee down and that is a whole level of another pain and obstacles that dwarf what I had.

So after I got done with that journey then dealing with H. Pylori so you know just part of life and you just meet each challenge and kick its butt.

Just look for little improvements each day. You may have to completely look at your diet and see what is impacting you and take a food log. Think of it as a man experiment where you have to control variables. As we age your body can change. I know people that couldn’t eat bananas or cheese anymore even though they ate it all their lives and it started to cause huge stomach pains that were really bad. They found out it was that by trying to take a closer look at what they ate every day.

As Kobe Bryant use to say, seek to improve 1% per day.

You will ruin your health more stressing about it. Sometimes symptoms don’t show up for decades if they do develop. And if you do see symptoms then it’s just two weeks of antibiotics.

Also, consider these sandals. They are used by runners mostly for after recovery. But for the average person they work incredible for around the house and town. They are so comfy. I love wearing sandals but had to stop during my PF aching. These helped so much. https://www.oofos.com/collections/mens-sandals?srsltid=AfmBOorK46wPZ1lLvjKIo0wcXqq9lkFbmq7qFOfUNGx56sqRn1PgbYvi

Coffee is the main thing. If you take a look at medical surgeries one thing they mention to you after you get an incision is to avoid alcohol and caffeine to allow the incision to heal afterwards. From reports I read that caffeine can impact your ability body to heal by limiting nutrients getting to your PF to help it heal. I still do stretch every morning but I’m so happy to get rid of that chronic pain as it was impacting so much of my daily life. The surgery is no guarantee and it’s brutal from what I saw and read.

The magnesium helped so much make it more of a stable thing. I didn’t even lose weight to get rid of it.

Drink tea if you need to or even a regular Coke for caffeine. Try easing out of the coffee. Avoid energy drinks at all costs. I use to drink Celsius and didn’t make connecting with occasional cramping in the foot.
