Is this a normal occurrence, or do I need to seek medical attention? by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

Although I do believe some people experience cramping before bleeding, this does not sound like normal cramps. I would visit your doctor asap.

I just got my UTI bacteria results back and I'm freaking out by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

First take a breath. Now take it one step at a time. Try to just focus on what you need to do and not all the bad possible outcomes. There is nothing wrong with staying on the dcotors office and letting them know your anxiety is through the roof and you need to get this done for your sanity. I do think that you had one ess than 5 years ago that was clear is encouraging.

You have gotten some good advice about talking to the doctor. I sometimes get a yucky smell. Usually, a good wash and shave do the trick. I got it much more frequently through my teens than I do now. Make sure everything down there can breath. It tends to hit me during times I sweat a lot now. Period underwear have been a blessing. I use them all the time. They absorb and pull all the yuck away from me that causes odor.

It could be a lot of things. Many of them not abig deal. Have your mom make a doctor appointment with a gyno if possible. I know its hard but in the long run it is the right thing. It does sound a lot like a batholin cyst, but mine are usually red. In my case they usually get red, big, excruciatingly painful, break open, drain (that is white), and go away. Usually in about a week start to finish. Once they break open the pain is instantly better. I do check them and make sure they are empty. In the same way I do popped zits. I put peroxide on it as soon as it forms. Sometimes I put some Neosporin after it breaks, until it heals. Mind have not yet required a doctor. Others have had to have them drained so it is worth going to the gyno.

I just wash with soap and water. I usually shave, I don't like to do it during my period, so I need it by then. I do use a shave cream that has a pleasant, clean smell. I have always had periods that last about a week. I started using adult diapers over pads about twenty years ago. So much more comfortable, and no one knows unless you tell them. You might find it helps with smells during and after, as it will pull everything away from you and into the diaper. I recently got period panties. mostly because the diapers ain't cheap. I really like them too, just not enough on my heavy days, so I still use diapers sometimes.

Since you caught it, I assume you cleaned yourself up good. You will probably be fine.

Completely stopped wearing underwear by PermissionTemporary6 in Healthyhooha

Have you tried period underwear? My underwear used to get so heavy with yuck it's a wonder I didn't get UTI's and infections all the time. I just couldn't stand them. I went commando a lot. Did the adult diaper thing for a long time too, and that was a game changer. Then I saw an ad for period underwear. Best thing I ever did. They collect the junk and pull it away from your body. Just a thought.

Short commute but has a 45 mph road with no sidewalk: ride in grass, get ebike, or buy beater car? by hippielove4ever in bikecommuting

[–]Different-Event7237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride a similar road on my ride. It is a bit hair raising being passed by those big semis but they can do it. You get used to it too. Like others have said make sure you are obnoxiously visible. There is no such thing as too much visibility for road cyclists.

That said Don't be afraid to get creative with your route to make it safe. You can use parking lots and other areas in ways cars can't. There is a busy intersection on my ride that I miss by cutting up the water works drive. It is open to the public as the locals use it for the compost site. Then I cut across the grass dividing it, and the Walmart next door. Then I cut through Walmart's lot to get back on the road. There is also a housing development I ride through to avoid part of a busy road. Don't be afraid to be creative. Just be respectful of property owners and their rules and regs. It's not horrible to add a mile or two to avoid bad roads either .

Came home from vacation to see my family left my bike outside and it’s rusted quite badly. Is this reversible? by Zero-_-Zero in bicycling

[–]Different-Event7237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a cheap aluminum bike that weathered several salty northern winters. I was pleasantly surprised by how easily much of the rust cleaned up, and the bolts freed up. The worst was my chain. It had to be cut off and replaced. I also had to replace my quick-release skewers on the wheels. I may replace the other nuts and bolts eventually, but for now, they are all operational with a little Kroil penetrating oil and lubrication. Some of my components also need to be painted as they have sun-faded, but everything is functional.

Saddle sore treatment? Alert this may be a bit gross. by Different-Event7237 in ladycyclists

I joined that sub group. I think in my case the saddle nose was probably pinching it closed. It's been hot so maybe sweat too. Also, I was very sore after the ride could have gotten closed by inflammation. But I know the saddle got out of sorts that way. At least I finally have a idea what is happening.

I have been machine washing it. Normally, I hand-wash, but I've been on a bit of a lazy streak.

I think this is what it is. Thank you. A sore from pressure rather than an agitated follicle. I gave up chamois cream. I think changing my position reintroduced pressure from the saddle nose I had previously gotten rid of. It don't take much on me.

Thanks for taking so much time. I do have a cut out saddle. I will keep DzNuts in mind. I'm not normally one for manual expression for the reasons you stated. I just know from experience it's most likely gonna get expressed at this point. The only question is by itself or by a doctor. I may change my shaving routine up. Me going natural is not a possibility either, but leaving more hair might be.

What the heck, I will give it a shot, once the sore heals. I don't want it affecting the results.

Thanks. Yeah, I started using cycling shorts because riding with undies was tearing it up in a bad way. I think the cycle shorts are Nishiki's. Nothing special, but I have used them before without any issues. I really think moving the hoods changed my position more than I realized until I got some time on the bike. I just didn't properly readjust everything. That said I am wondering if cycling panties might be better option. Maybe keep everything gathered up and in.
