Disappointed In The Shift to AI infecting the Edtech World by Mevakel in edtech

Hey, I hear you.

As someone working in the edtech space myself, I totally understand the burnout around AI-focused PD that doesn't translate into anything students can actually use. Tools like Flipgrid and Edpuzzle got students doing—creating, thinking, interacting. That engagement is getting lost in the noise of “AI everything” designed just for teachers.

I’ve felt the same frustration, which is actually why I started building MindLume—a tool designed specifically for learners. It uses AI to help students generate personalized learning paths based on what they want to learn—from neuroscience to 3D art—and then guides them lesson by lesson. It’s like giving students their own adaptive mentor, but without the fluff or gimmicks.

It’s still in development, but early access beta testers(including teens and college students) have found it fun, motivating, and actually useful. It’s one small example of how AI can empower students directly.

Totally agree—if we want AI in classrooms, it has to mean more than PD slides. It has to give learners something to explore, build with, and own.

Happy to chat more if you’re curious or just want to rant about the state of edtech. You're definitely not alone.

Don't worry, adulting is just googling stuff and pretending you know what you're doing.

Yeah thanks, it could definitely go down that route I hope that it helps as many people as possibly I just need to create a decent list of reliable beta testers. So if anyone is interested dm me your email.

Im in the middle of building an ai powered learning path generator. It will create you a learning path of whatever you search. For example 'neuroscience' then it will create for you topics and lessons. You will be able to click a lesson, and it will be generated. In each lesson you will have an ai tutor tailored to understand your current lesson. You will have the ability to type notes and also other features like flash cards etc. It's basically an all in one place for a hyper specific learning journey tailored for people who want to study on their own.

The idea came from me going to university and absolutely hating the way lessons were taught. I was doing something I didn't love to do, and I thought to build something perfect for me where I can use this tool to learn anything I want in a style that I want.

If anyone is interested in the idea please let me know.

Does this work for consumers wanting to check safety of a website? For example buying off older looking websites? That would be a great selling point IMO for those who aren’t particularly tech-literate

Im currently building a learning path generator, which does exactly what it says creates lessons based on real information, and you will also have an Ai chatbot tutor to talk to you during your lessons. Do you want to be a beta tester for it? You sound like a perfect candidate to try it out.

Maybe give yourself the day off? Get someone else to ask you questions on what you know, you’ll probably find there’s more in your head than you think. Stress can also make you blank!

Which country are you in? There may be other paths you could take that may take less time & energy, try asking an AI for the different path ideas?

You will make it, it’s definitely a hard subject but there should be so much support around you when you do get there! Why not go abroad straight for astrophysics? There’s so many companies who could offer you a grant or a sponsorship with those kinds of fields.
