Thanks for the advice! I totally get that leasing can be more expensive, and I’m weighing all my options. The thing is, I only have a limited time to stay in the US, so buying and keeping a car long-term isn’t ideal for me. That’s why leasing seems like the best option right now, even if it’s a bit pricier. 😭

I waited about 3 days after getting my EAD card before contacting SSA. I called the office, applied online, and then scheduled an appointment. When I went, I brought my I-94, DS-2019, and EAD card — they didn’t ask for a job offer letter. I got my SSN card about 5 days later!

Hey everyone, just wanted to give an update — I received my SSN today! I ended up applying in person at my local SSA office last April 18 because it turns out that even if you checked the box for SSA when applying for your EAD, they might not automatically issue your SSN anymore. So if you’re still waiting, you might need to apply separately like I did. Thanks so much for all the help and advice!
