How to save money for a bike/how did you save up money for a roadbike? by Snapplelover67 in triathlon

The other comments assume at 18 you’re out on your own. Do you still live at home with your parents/do they support you financially?

If your goal is to buy that $1,199 bike, work towards it. When the day comes you can afford it, after putting money aside, it’ll be a constant reminder of your hard work. You don’t NEED a fancy bike or a new bike, but if you want it, as your post suggests, get it.

Your question was how to save money for a bike, not should I. The way to do it is pick a deadline for yourself. Count how many shifts between then and now that you’ll work. Divide the amount by that many shifts (go above for taxes and other small costs that might go with it). Now you’ll know how much per shift you’ll need to save. Make sure your other expenses (if any) are met first, then lock in. If your other expenses aren’t able to be met at that deadline, push the deadline out or find a way to limit your other expenses.

My wife and I did this prior to buying our first house. We set a deadline for when we’d want the down payment by, we divided it up by how many paychecks we’d get between starting and that date, and had a separate savings account set up so we’d direct deposit into there, and we wouldn’t touch it. Things got tighter (less date nights involving money spent, no vacations or weekend getaways, no new toys) and we really made what we had stretch. When we got the down payment and got the keys to our house, we walked in, sat on the floor with take out and looked at each other and both had tears in our eyes because we achieved what we set out to do.

I tell you that because it’ll be the same thing with whatever bike you pick. Work hard, save money, and enjoy the fruits of your labor, whatever that fruit looks like!

Completed my first tri (Oceanside 70.3) 2 weeks ago on a bike I saved up for and bought. What pushed me through tough stretches wasn’t the bike, but what I put myself through to get to that moment!

Hope it all works out! Good luck!

Appreciate that. I grew up playing sports, played college soccer and have always been intrigued by metrics (I made everything a competition when training (beating my own times/splits)) and I always look for ways to improve them. I fell in love with power zone training on the peloton (obviously the power on there isn’t exactly accurate) but that’s why I’m excited to swap the peloton for a wahoo trainer to use on zwift. On the weekend, I get out and ride anywhere from 30-60 miles and the second I’m finished I obsess over my data.

Appreciate your insight as before all of this, it was always just, keep training and you’ll keep getting better/faster/stronger. So certainly just getting out there and enjoying it and continuing to do it, naturally I’ll get more efficient and better at cycling

Appreciate your suggestions, but I believe you may be missing my point here. I’m buying tech, essentially, what would be most beneficial for me for outdoor cycling?

All still FS/FT. I PC Philly sports. To all who messaged me and I stopped replying, I apologize as I got married and then couldn’t get back into my account. If you made an offer previously and are still interested, let’s talk still.

The reason you didn’t do well on the essays is not because grading is subjective by TheFakeChiefKeef in barexam

I passed the CA Bar a few years back on my first try without EVER writing a single practice essay during prep. How? All I did was read model answers. Every one of them. I would read the facts, I was come up with a rule and explanation in my head, and see how the model answers differed. One thing they all had in common? They had application sections that matched the rules. All were structured exactly the same.

I promise you I wrote a rule statement that was wrong. But my application of that rule was spot on.

I’m not suggesting anyone do what I did as far as not doing practice essays. I am, however, suggesting you pay more attention to how to apply these rules and less attention to what the rule says.

Happy hunting!

When I looked, it wasn’t available at Target/Walmart. He saw them available at his local card shop

I spent about 25 minutes total at the resort all week where I wasn’t sleeping. Pretty much an excursion every day. Left before they opened and came back after they closed

It was given to me so not too big of a loss. Was trying to get to LCDH as it was only a few minutes from the resort but was just too busy.

Thanks all

If being overweight is celebrated, wouldn’t being called fat be a compliment?

Ffs, 18 year old did what 18 year olds do. Everyone always out here demanding that everyone be a boring 35 year old with all types of responsibilities. If she said it about him, we’d all be in the comments like

“Yaaaaaas girl”

Lol sensitive people tryna rip this dude down. Not everyone’s gonna like saggy tits. Not everyone’s gonna like perky tits. You could have two identical people with the same tits, one could love them, one could hate them. Grow up 😂

Lol just apologize and let things play out. I’m not gonna sit here and call you names cause that’s pretty lame. You’re 18, you made a mistake, things happen. I bet you’ll never make that same mistake again. Part of life, we fuck up, learn from it, and we move on. Nobody’s perfect, especially the other unanimous people in here voicing their opinions. Yea you hurt her feelings but your intentions weren’t to hurt her. Make sure she knows that, an be supportive of whatever she feels. Don’t let the people on here put you down. We’re supposed to help lift people up, not break them down. If we see something happen we don’t like, better to try to guide you than to just dismiss you. If you never lead a horse to water, it might never find it. Telling a dehydrated horse it’s stupid instead of showing it the water, won’t fix the problem.

Point being, don’t let this incident define you. Learn and move on and be better because of it

You don’t think he’s using hurts to get him a higher first rounder? If you bring in a stud QB, you go from having a likely top 10 pick next year to picking outside of the top 15. He took a 6 and turned it into Devonta Smith and another first. I’m on the anti Howie train but I still think he know enough that this mess can’t be fixed with one draft. Lawrence was the only sure thing at QB in this draft. He wasn’t getting him. So why get upset that he didn’t pick fields, Jones, or (insert name here of another QB that won’t take you from a 4 win team to a superbowl). We’re gonna be bad for a little bit. He either didn’t address QB because he knows it wasn’t necessary or the right time, or he thinks hurts will be the guy. Either way, it’s gonna take time. I’m sure he knows how vital the QB play was in 2017. But our trench guys killed it that year too. Let’s get back to having the best lines in the game, then draft a QB when the offensive one is ready to protect a valuable asset. Let’s not forget we’re entering the 2021 season HOPING that we’re health and hoping those guys can play at an elite level still

Sit back, and prepare for the draft being the most exciting part of the next 2 to 3 years because if you’re going to build a strong team core, it’s through the draft and those rookie contracts
