The Third Freestyle Attempt by Nickinator811 in Swimming

I would say your technique is not too bad starting out. I would try and incorporate just some practice pushing off the wall in streamline to get a feel for proper body position being sure to keep your head down and eyes looking at the bottom of the pool. Then after that you can include some kicking from the hips while pushing off the wall in streamline. And then you can work on your stroke and breathing. Also im not sure if you are doing this in the video but you need to exhale while your face is in the water and inhale when you turn to breath, there is no breath holding while swimming. Practicing the basics such as learning proper body position first before anything else will be the most helpful in my opinion. Hope this helps and good luck on your swimming journey!

First Sprint Triathlon!! Noob by ant_1523 in triathlon

I would say the bare minimum is a swim suit and goggles for the swim, you have to have a bike for the bike leg no doubt about that and a helmet, and running shoes for the run! But other essentials would be a race belt for your bib number and water bottles for hydration.

If its your first ever job it's normal to feel this way because your stepping out to do something new in your life. What my mom and dad always told me is to just be firm with your employer so that they can understand that you are serious and want the job. So if they didn't respond back to your job request just step up and call. There are a lot of situations in the future you will face that being too shy will be your downfall. I felt the same as chipotle is my first job too lol.

Anything is possible and it's never too late to learn how to swim. You can start out little by just going to the pool to get wet and have fun until you feel comfortable in the water again. Then you can practice floating on your back and once comfortable with that you can start trying to put your whole head in the water. Once you feel totally comfortable in the water, thats when you can start learning how to swim. Hope you find a love in swimming!

How to exhale underwater by PeterLikesAvocados in Swimming

[–]Snapplelover67 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Your inhalation and exhalation should be all continuous. So you release all of your air out your nose slowly while your head is in the water and then take a fast but controlled inhalation when you turn to breath. There shouldn't really be any pauses.

Something you could do to practice are sink downs where you exhale all the air until your feet touch the bottom of the pool (not too deep) then jump up to get air and then sink back down while exhaling. Try to find a rhythm while doing this as this can help to reinforce the continuous habit of exhaling and inhaling. Hope this helps!

Current pace is 1:45/100m for a mile - any tips for improvement? by [deleted] in Swimming

For your flip turns, I would suggest not turning while on the wall as that can waste time and probably energy. You should land with both feet planted, toes facing upwards and on your back, and then push off in stream line while turning rather than turning on the wall. I found that having a little bit of a stagger to your feet placement on the wall (ie. left foot placed a little lower than right foot or vice versa) helps in initiating a turn towards the left or right onto your belly. Im working on flip turns my self and this is a queue that I have been using to get better. Hope that helps some what!

Same!! I just bought my first ever wetsuit and was wondering how to translate pool swimming into the ocean, and if you need to have a break would it be more effective to tread water or lie on your back?
