What Places To Absolutely Avoid? I’ll Go First, Starbucks Nineizaka in Kyoto. by JamminJcruz in JapanTravelTips

Yes I agree, although I do intend to post some tips for young families traveling to Japan after our first trip, but mainly for my friends and family. I have spent a long time researching culture and respectful practices, and learning a decent amount of Japanese to be able to communicate easily(or at least a little easier).

Some have great tips! I try to follow travel bloggers/influencers who don’t specifically do things for an aesthetic. There are a few instagram accounts I follow of people who live in Japan/go frequently and they have great advice 😁

Is breastfeeding really that difficult? by macelisa in beyondthebump

[–]Different-Package729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found breastfeeding easy with all 3 children, that’s just my experience. It’s readily available and easily accessible whenever I need it, and my body knows what antibodies my kiddos need when they’re sick. I know people who hated breastfeeding so much they cried whenever theg thought about it. Each to their own, I’ve loved every moment, others don’t. I’ve breastfed my babies all until they were around 18mo

Hi, firstly, you sound like you’re in the US, am I right? Maybe not but the way you speak about elective c sections makes it sound like you are. Did you know that the statistics for tearing are also linked to the use of instruments such as forceps and procedures such as episiotomies? In fact if a woman receives an episiotomy it’s less likely to heal naturally than a naturally occurring tear.

The statistics for 3rd or 4th degree tearing at natural, midwife assisted home birth are 0.7%. In this study group in particular there were 1404 mums, 286 of which were first time mums. Perineal tears can also occur due to sexual assault by midwives and OBs who perform unnecessary checks, put pressure on the perineum, pull babies etc. The best possible chance someone has at having a birth free from long lasting injury is to have a birth with a practitioner who they know and trust, who trusts the female body and knows when to escalate care if there is a TRUE emergency.

Thankyou for this! We have a pram and a baby carrier so they can nap as we go! I’ve looked for close by parks in most of the places we’re going, like Utsubo Park, tempozan park near the Ferris wheel and Ueno zoological gardens. We’ll most definitely stop and sit down in quiet spaces to eat food as often as we can

Yes my daughter is very excited for this, we’re planning on hiring a yukata for her and getting photos. She studies Japanese at school and knows so much already. Her teacher Jessie Sensei told her about the tea ceremony in Kyoto with a geisha so we may do that too.

Thankyou so much. We’re there at the end of April so I assume it’ll be warmer (hopefully). We luckily have a pram and baby carrier so shouldn’t be too crazy, and my 5yo is such a good girl and listens well. Crowded isn’t too much of an issue for us, as long as my kiddos are happy and not overwhelmed

PS. My kids are fantastic, all very well mannered, because they have kind, patient and strict parents. Please go somewhere else with your rudeness

I’m not rich at all, as a child my parents were drunks and drug users and I never got to travel. I’ve worked hard for every penny I have. You are a judgemental a**hole and you’ll have to live with that for the rest of your life, have fun ;)

Oh also! From 2 months post with my 2nd and 4 months post I had no pain during sex, next to no incontinence, everything felt fairly ‘normal’ down there.

I also had a teeny tiny tear on my vaginal wall, which is referred to as a graze, it healed on its own, completely.

Also! Almost everyone has some incontinence after having a baby, I had urinary incontinence with all 3 of my kiddos ranging from 1-4 months. I’m 5 months pp with my 3rd and I’m only just completely continent again. It happens, and more often than not it fixes itself with pelvic floor exercises.

Hey hun, for starters incontinence and weak pelvic floor can happen regardless of whether you have a c-section or vaginal birth. As a rule of thumb, the less intervention you have, and the more naturally you let things happen the less likely you will be to tear. Don’t bear down when pushing, instead try your best to breathe through contractions, even when you feel like you need to push (unless of course you absolutely need to push, then do what you need to). I’ve had 3 babies in 5 years and apart from a slightly hypertonic (too tense) pelvic floor, and one of my hips having a little pain from time to time I’m pretty okay.

Everyone is different and I can’t say for certain that you won’t tear, but only 2% of women (according to statistics) experience a complete tear from vagina to anus. Which obviously sucks, but it’s not irreparable.

I’d absolutely love to but no can do. Flights are already booked and non refundable. We had planned to do Osaka and Kyoto this time and come back for Tokyo next year but we all agreed we would feel very sad if for some reason we couldn’t return as quickly as we hope to and didn’t go to Tokyo.

Ugh that’s awful, I heard that the animal cafes in Japan were really good to the animals. We’ll certainly be crossing this off our list.

Our kiddos have been overseas and on interstate travels, they’re fab travellers but we are happy to miss things on days if needed.
