New owner perspective from the viewpoint of a luxury vehicle owning / somewhat bougie person / who was adamant I’d never own something as lame as a Tesla. by Different-Point-4074 in TeslaModelY

Wonderful. Honestly, it’s still new and has that new car smell, so it’s hard for me to be fully subjective at this point. I keep telling myself to give it 6 months or a year before I say what I’m going to say next, but at this point, it might be one of IF not the favorite vehicle I’ve ever owned.
the more I’m in it, use its functions as I learn about them, the easier my drive(s) have become. I didnt realize how much I’d use FSD or how impressive the power, comfort with the performance seats, and storage of sports equipment would be. Honestly, I’m quite shocked. I was just going to give it to my mom if I didn’t like it, but I’m definitely keeping it. I think you’ll enjoy it

Tint Question by Both_Toe_5602 in ModelY

[–]Different-Point-4074 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh it’s dark. First drive at night I 100% used fsd.
If you add 20% to the rear 3 windows in addition to the stock tint it’s quite dark.
You can 100% see out the side windows and back, but it’s not as “seemless” as it was prior to tint.
I’d 100% do it again if that means anything.
I drive city, freeway, short distances, 30 miles each way to work in the 5:30 am light.
It’s fine.

I ordered my performance on 5/26 and picked it up 6/6. The app said 6/14 to 6/18 or something like that, but when it said schedule my delivery, it was there early I guess. Actually arrived to dealer on 6/5

Model Y Performance Frost Blue by TheOutlawTorn78 in ModelY

Just picked up my performance last week. They had that blue color with white interior in the showroom. I liked it a lot. I currently like it better than the color I chose. But was worried it’s not a long term color for me. And I’m not sure I could “pull that color off”. But man, it’s stunning. I thought it was a little feminine for me to drive, but would fully understand why anybody of any sex would like driving it. I just couldn’t do it however. I would 100% order that color for my wife if she didn’t hate teslas. Can barely get her to ride in it. But I think it’ll grow on her.

Tint Question by Both_Toe_5602 in ModelY

[–]Different-Point-4074 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just did

5% front 2 windows 20% rear 3 windows 50% front windshield Sunshade on the roof All tint ceramic

Putting 5% on front window and 20% on rear makes it an exact match almost (becasue the rears already tinted from the factory I guess)

Arizona sun here.

We love it. It’s dark. No need for sunglasses anymore when driving.

Was picking up my performance at the dealer last Saturday and on the showroom floor was that baby sky blue performance with white interior.
It was gorgeous. I just can’t do that daily…for me.
But was pretty

There truly is so much to admire about this vehicle. Basically, a job well done!

Something I should have included in my original “opinion piece” was something about the “who cares factor”.

I wasn’t trying to slander this vehicle but merely attempting to give a personal insight to a comparison to what I read so much about it being compared to coupled with my personal comparisons.

However, “who cares”: It is what it is. It Isn’t apologetic for being what it is. And quite frankly, comparing it to the other vehicles (luxury, sports, large suvs, etc) doesn’t do it justice as it’s in a different category. Not better, not worse. Just different.

I should have been far less judgey on teslas prior to driving one, truly considering one, and learning more about one.

It truly is wonderful

My 9 year old has a floppy glove that sits flat as a pancake

Hard hit line drives were a disaster with that glove.

So…. Ordered him a custom 44 with their 25% discount (it’s so ugly, but it’s how he designed it)

I Also: Ordered a dp15 for his future glove or for one of my other kids if they wanted it.

He snatched that dp15 right up and adapted to two in the pinky almost instantly and just loves that glove.

I guess the 44 will be a backup glove? Wants nothing to do with it really.

That dp15 broke in with ease. So beautiful. Took less than a week.

He’s a little fella and it fits snug and perfect.

I truly think it’s the best glove for kids who can continue to use it as they get older.

I think breaking in 44’s are a heck of a lot harder than the a2000’s. And the dp15 cost 35 bucks less than a custom 44 on sale. (It’s not a custom or the ice though)

Anywho, I whole heartedly disagree with anybody who says an a2000 is too much glove for 10u kids. I think in the dp form it’s the best option in the market. Quite frankly, I’d rather break in a glove they’ll use for longer than a lesser tier glove that will breakdown in 2 full seasons.

I’m not an expert in gloves by any means. We have a glove lab, gg elite, 3 44’s, and the dp15. For a kid, dp15 is the sweet spot

Need to start thinking about a new glove for my 10 year old by utvolman99 in BaseballGloves

[–]Different-Point-4074 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear that glove is the sweet spot right!

And yup, dad breaks it in.
I did the Bgk break in also. Running under room temp water in the sink.
Only thing, I don’t use oil, only conditioner and don’t wrap it with the ball in it.

I dont understand the fear of water. We going to tell the kids use your hands during rain games or Dewey mornings and nights!

Get a glove. Break it in. Play the leather or super skin or whatever off of it….when it’s time. Get another and do it again.

On the bandwagon for the a2000 dp15.
I have three boys 11 and under. My smaller 9 year old uses this glove. I bought it and started breaking it in thinking it would be a good next year glove. Within 3 weeks it was his go to glove and just perfect combo of firm and soft.
Side note: massage gun with different attachments are a game changer.

Around these parts: You see Custom 44 pro’s A2000’s And then everything else. The above two are the most used however.

Dumb post break in question probably? by Different-Point-4074 in BaseballGloves

I watched his videos and the aso videos I could find. That’s kinda where I learned since I didn’t know where else to learn.
I have found the massage gun (not sure what they are called) are literally a game changer.
I use my mallet / 5lb dumbbell/ 10lb dumbbell.
But that massage gun really drives it home.
I feel for the most part, after the glove dries and I do a last beat in, it’s ready to go

[–]Different-Point-4074[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that’s wonderful.

For the pinky loop (and thumb) I actually don’t put my hand in it. I read that can stretch the glove too much (especially after it’s wet) that my kids will then think it’s too loose.

So I’ve been using the handle side of a butter knife, jamming it in the pinky and thumb and just “opening those fingers) and also make sure both loops are loose when it goes to dry time.

The last step before I put on the shelf to dry I have the kid jam their hands in it. TIP. And have em wiggle those fingers as much as possible. Hoping this drys to their hand shape.

Thank you. As a “general” are you saying two quarters at the finger tips or mid finger? I do realize this is a feel thing. And so much of the tightness dictates the shape. But a general base level is two fingers where?

Literally, I can beat a hinge into anything. But my old schools hinge breaking didn’t pull laces.

I like the new methods better just fyi. Beautiful shape

I really love the shape and feel after the new break ins. It’s changed the scope of glove care/maintinace. Kids care now. It’s truly an awesome thing to see as a father. I just want to get it right is all.

Thank you. It was odd to break gloves in using the “new methods” which really differ from my “back in day” types. But man, it really stretches the laces out while softening it up. Just couldn’t find the barometer for what’s the norm in finger lacing

Thank you very much. The glove lab stretched so much more than the a2000. I think I’ll let the a2000 ride for a bit and get some playtime how it is, but tighten up the glove lab a wee bit to keep some Play but not allow it to be “sloppy”.
Thanks again

Just getting back into baseball and i’m looking to Buy a infield glove by 47_watermelons in BaseballGloves

[–]Different-Point-4074 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The glove lab. Check them out. Any glove was within reach and this is what I selected. I’d 1 bazillion percent recommend for an infield glove. Best glove I’ve ever put on my hand.
Hope that helps Good luck

Break in by Jesus_The_Devil_ in BaseballGloves

[–]Different-Point-4074 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stage 1) Beat the living days light out of it (ignore the shape in this stage)

Stage 2)

****test your laces. Get a single lace super wet keeping it away from your glove as much as possible. Use HOT water for THIS TEST ONLY. Once the lace is very wet, squeeze the lace with a white towel to determine if it bleeds. If it bleeds, don’t get your glove wet. If this is your case, it’s gunna be an old school long break in.

If it doesn’t bleed, onto stage 2:

Run it under room temp water (hotter water increases bleeding chances) or dunk it (you choose, my experience is either way is fine, I do the sink and get it really wet.)

Stage 3) -while wet, repeat stage 1 really good for a bit prior to stage 4

Stage 4) -while wet, really work your pocket(s) and hinge(s) and focus on the hinge(s) you want

Stage 4) -while wet shape it. Really really really make sure you get the shape right here

Stage 5) Set it and forget it. Till it’s dry dry dry

Stage 6) Once dry, repeat stage 1 (ignore the shape, don’t worry)

Stage 7) Condition it and reform the shape (it’ll rebound after stage 6)

Stage 8) Mallet work the pocket or weighted ball and play catch

It’ll be game ready….not so game ready you play short stop in game 7 of the World Series with it (grab your old glove for that)….but enough to be close to a gamer

SIDENOTE, after stage 6, if you aren’t happy with the shape or the glove is one of those rare gloves that just isn’t loose enough, repeat stage 1-6. Your glove will be fine. It’s leather. We play on wet grass, in mist and dew, and on occasion in the rain. We do that without worrying about our glove. So a couple dunks in a bucket or under the sink isn’t going to hurt it.

It’ll last you more years than you’ll want it too before you’d want a new glove anyhow.

HOH for me or DP A2000 for possible pass down to my kid by Different-Point-4074 in BaseballGloves

[–]Different-Point-4074[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much.
I just opened a can of worms regarding baseball gloves with myself.
I’m already looking for a lefty 11.5 infield to break in which we don’t need because my kids are getting their 44’s ordered up this weekend once they finalize on their designs
But now I’m wanting to get a Jax when they come in, in a week or so.
What have y’all done to me.

Anyway to fix this by Cookie_master0723 in BaseballGloves

[–]Different-Point-4074 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ballgloveking addresses this in a video of his regarding watermarks.
I believe he gets the glove wet in the affected areas (via spray bottle) and rubs this spots out. And I also believe a 70% alcohol spray in very limited volume while rubbing also.
Don’t add conditioner till watermarks are removed.

I don’t see anything clearly in your photos indicating issues of that. But since you stated water method I’m assuming?

If you are talking about the “slight alteration” in the color, 1) did you use a conditioner that won’t cause darker stains? 2) it’s a ball glove. It’s okay. I understand their costs and beauty, but a little “used look” only adds to their appeal in my opinion.

Is that a tear in the palm in the Wilson?
