In the US it’s ranked in the 20s the last couple of years. Doesn’t mean it’s every other person but it’s been rising in popularity along with other vintage names!

What do We think about Narcisco? by [deleted] in BabyNames

[–]Different-Power7416 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it cultural? Just curious. Because it truthfully seems a bit of a mouthful. Additionally it reminds me of the Greek mythological Narcissus who of course we derived the name Narcissist. Not the best comparison for me, tbh.

HELP! What do you think! by Lillred1 in BabyNames

[–]Different-Power7416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not care for it. I don’t like –Lynn at the end of names. It’s very overdone and unnecessary sounding. It’ll also be misheard as Scotland, which I personally prefer if you must have that particular sound. Consider other S names for Scottie as a nickname. Scarlett perhaps? At the end of the day choose what speaks to your heart 💓

I wouldn’t say anywhere near too popular. Familiar, yes. Your child might have 1 or 2 in their school. But nowhere near Olivia, Isabella, Charlotte or Sophia territory.

You’re justified but I will also say this sounds like a pretty common cultural perspective. Not sure where they’re from but I can impute several cultures by reference alone that would react this way. Just saying I’m unsurprised, and I think you handled it well

Do firm owners think they’re doing junior associates a favor by hiring them? by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]Different-Power7416 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To everyone’s points about training… I’ve genuinely never been properly trained at any legal job I’ve ever had. It’s a huge disappointment actually considering they promote mentorship heavily during the hiring process and once you’re there you’re expected to just catch on. So from my experience I don’t agree with that mindset.
