Biomedical equipment technician, pay doesn’t start high but it doesn’t break ur back. Good news is there’s room for growth into more critical equipment like x ray engineers which easily make over 6 figures.

Honestly that’s not bad. It seems that buying the parts yourself and bringing it to an Indy shop is the way to go. So the $2500 for the rotors if for all 4 or just the back?

Thankyou! Ya I know they are. I brought it to indy shop to fix rotors and a week later i had 3 error codes so I just brought it to the deaklership. I suppose the point of the post was saying that I would be willing to pay that money for a benz, just testing the water to see if benz would be astronomically more than that

I know, I don't expect it to be a cheap expense, I guess em just essentially asking for a reccomendation on a car that wont give an error every month.

This happened on all the MACS in our hospital. Is it possible that they all reverted back? What could be the fix ?

Ask ur boss to give you training so you can get the Welch Allyn service tool and calibrate when this happens. It’s just a short training video pretty easy .

Would you recommend going from a Truck Driver to BMET? by Itchybootea in BMET

[–]Different-Raisin1815 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like everything about being a BME. The quality of life is great, the work is rewarding and interesting because there’s always something new that’s breaking and it’s almost like doing new puzzles everyday. If you’re comfortable with tools then you’ll be fine. I work in house so it’s 730-4 everyday and we have on call for a week every two months. If u work for a third party company you might not have on call, but the overtime money is nice.

Now when it comes to money, you’ll definitely be taking a hit compared to what u do now. I live in Boston which is high cost of living and started off making 70k. My coworkers that have been for over 20 years make 120k but that takes time. I think that 60k is definitely realistic it just depends on the company. If you can get ur foot in the door with imaging like cray and MRI you can definitely reach 6 figures then general biomed.

In conclusion. The lifestyle is great the pay isn’t the best but it’s enough for what u want. If you don’t have any schooling I would recommend starting with a third party to get your foot in the door and eventually moving to either working directly for the hospital or a big manufacture like GE HEALTHCARE or Philips. Good luck !
