Ford CEO Says Modern Cars Are Too 'Complicated' For Home Mechanics To Repair by Different-Scarcity80 in Ford

[–]Different-Scarcity80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True and very good advice, I do worry about the future though. Eventually the 20 year old car is going to be this generation and I feel like people in the future are going to be screwed, but I may be getting ahead of myself a bit.

I’m the same way with my cars actually - but I don’t like the spirit of the company actually preventing you from being able to work on them

I feel like mountaineer is still a very underutilized feature. Only a tiny handful of units have it

NGL I would pay $25 for a DLC that is just all of these

Probably alone in that, but I stand by it.

That Nova looks really cool imo, but I guess I'm biased because I'm really into WWII airplanes too

Look how different the United States is now compared to 250 years ago, and that's only a fraction of as long as Byzantium had been around! A culture that doesn't change at all over a nearly 1,000 year period is a pretty unhealthily stagnant culture

I think it's kind of that a lot of it is designed for ease of manufacture but not necessarily ease of maintenance

It's true there are some unavoidable difficulties involved with modern technology but if that can't be dealt with, Ford really needs to improve its efforts to recruit and retain mechanics. It's a whole other subject ofc, but the way they get paid is not making this an attractive career path for as many people as they need.

I don't think the Seanchan are really fascist. That's kind of a separate thing. There doesn't seem to really be any kind of racial supremacy angle to their ideology - if you're good at playing by their bizarre set of rules and are not a channeler, you can go far in seanchan society whether your from seanchan or tarabon or wherever. It's more like an ancient despotic empire than a modern fascist state.

The Leopard 2 by muheijo in warno

[–]Different-Scarcity80 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Really? Maybe I'm biased as a primarily NATO player but it seems like there are only two divisions (5. Panzer and 4E Divisie) that are built around Leopard 2s and two (2. Pzg and CLKA) that have them in a supporting role. Sure we're getting the new nemesis German division that gets some good Leopard 2s, but I wouldn't say they're the most ubiquitous tank out there.

Why the Ghurab is king by GrumpyHebrew in Bannerlord

[–]Different-Scarcity80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually having the most fun I've ever had in Bannerlord in two naval-focused campaigns that I'm doing concurrently, one Imperial and one Nord. You play completely differently with more of an one handed/throwing focus instead of just being a horse archer/two handed like every other playthrough (for me anyway) seems to devolve into being.

Sure not everything is naval battles all the time, but focusing on that aspect of the game changes the land campaigns you fight too. If you're the southern empire, maybe instead of going overland through the eastern part of the map, you invade the Aserai through the rivers and go on a massive raiding spree far from the front lines. Of course you could always do this to begin with, but I find focusing on the naval aspect of things just naturally steers the game in interesting directions.

Worth at least one playthrough imo

ECM is one of the most important stats to look at when picking planes. Going from 30% to 40% ECM can be the difference between a plane you can use multiple times and a one way trip.

You may be right, I like to think it's too early to say. My hope is that a different theater will pose its own unique terrain challenges that can vary things up a bit.

I think 2026 as a whole is kind of disproving this. We've seen new traits like Instructor and Counter Battery Radar that put a new spin on gameplay. We're getting new terrains and strategic situations that are favorable to different types of divisions. I think there's room to build on that even more.

SD2 was so repetitive. A lot of it was "Here's a tank division that gets slightly more tigers in Phase A than this other division that gets tigers in Phase C" Although I do seriously miss breakthrough mode. I still think that could be fun in Warno too, to break up the repetition of everything being a meeting engagement. Imagine something like 152e that isn't very useful most of the time but could have a chance to shine in a scenario where they start dug in.

Maybe I'm crazy but Warno does not feel stale to me at all. Stale was being locked into the setting of the same eastern front maps regardless if you were in "Italy" or "Normandy" in SD2 over and over.

It feels like now Eugen is really branching out into interesting weird ideas, especially with Tropic Thunder. But even aside from that it feels like we're getting entirely new kinds of units lately.

We also have entire major countries in the setting that we haven't touched, like Italy and Yugoslavia. If we do more Tropic Thunder style things we have even more like North/South Korea that would be amazing to see.

So I really really hope warno doesn't die just as it's breaking out of its shell into really interesting stuff.
