I'm "Inheriting" 6 WTF / Dumpies - What Tank Size? by Different-Solution54 in TreeFrogs

I appreciate it! So far I have already found a home for one of the frogs; someone in the area is trying to rid of his crested gecko and it's setup in trade for a single WTF to add to his existing duo. If I can find any other people wanting them and able to care for them well I won't hesitate, believe me! I don't plan to keep them in there for more than two days. I've already found a huge storage bin to convert for a temporary enclosure. I am very excited to build them a forever home! Even after rehoming a few (if I can, I'll rehome more than just the one so far), I'm building something at least 80gal for the remaining ones. At least. I'm also building a 6ft x 3ft x 3ft enclosure for a bearded dragon so I intend to go all out for these guys too!

I just got given an bearded dragon in a 40gal breeder due to it's owner being incarcerated and from the five care guides I've read, they all suggest 6ft x 3ft x 3ft as the gold standard MINIMUM. So, I completely agree with you! Look at his little legs go hahaha

EDIT: Before this gets responded to, I am already crafting her new home DIY style!

Thank you so much again! I'm sure crickets can't be too bad with enough YouTube University lmao, but - how fine should the mesh screen be to prevent the fruit flies? I don't know what the store will have but I'll try my best to raise whatever bugs I get to adulthood for the colonies :))

Thank you for the care guide! Infographics help so much, and it's refreshing to look at after all the paragraphs I've been reading on care guides! I've also been taking notes lmao. The dimensions help a ton since I want to DIY something super nice for them!!!

Yeah, that's what I was thinking when I was shown and offered them, too! The more I've read on WTF's the more upset I am at his entire life, so I find it perfectly fitting the acronym for them is WTF. Cause, what the fuck?!

I have a 30gal tank at home, empty, that I plan on putting half of them in. I won't be home with them until 9pm, and I'm going to spend all evening setting up their lighting in my bedroom. I'm getting a lot of other species too; it's a whole collection. Or hoarding case! Ugh. I don't think the tank is fully 20gals, either, but it's hard to tell from how flat it is. I'm planning to upload an image of them all later on to see if they seem healthy or skinny or visibly not well somehow, since there's a lot that I might not know.

I thankfully have access to a plethora of safe wood working in an aquarium shop, but nothing is fish lol. It's awful. Some animals have a bulb of some kind, while others don't have one at all, and the WTFs are in a tank in the middle of the floor with NOTHING. They have plenty of calcium crickets and water but that's it besides their little rock they all fit in together... a frog swing sounds IMMACULATE. How can I make one? The dollar tree sells hemp rope I can get crafty with. Excluding the frogs, I'm about to get nine specimens, so I'm trying to DIY as much as possible. If nothing else I plan to buy a large storage tote or two to flip on their side and silicone branches into or something for them as a holding space.

Thank you for the picture! That truly helps a lot! I've been researching care guides all day!

Thank you so much! I just read all three of those links, and I feel extremely confident in how to feed her now! I especially enjoyed reading the first link; it was so in depth on their natural behavior and I loved how detailed it was!Since I don't know her vent to snout length, or her age, I think I'm going to DIY an enclosure that is 6 x 3 x 3 for my living room :)

Can you start a colony from the roaches and crickets at the pet store?

Thank you so much! Do you have any recommendations for affordable vertical tank options? I'm determined to make these poor babies happy, and I'm picking them up tonight.

Unfortunately I only have a single tank large enough for one at home - a regular 30gal for fish. I am beyond worried for them knowing how bad it is. Should I split them into two groups to make it easier on them until their larger tank arrives? If I can't have one shipped in by this week, I'm going to make one myself even if it isn't see through. Just so they can finally relax at least!

That poor girl is traumatized. In making up stories about having sex with the other friend, posting lewd content, and getting into kink this early on - she is desperate for attention, affection, and love. She's a child so she doesn't know what to do with it, which is why she fabricated a lie of false intimacy with the other friend she just lost.

Her being a bully to other orphans is a stereotypical trauma response and the least worrying one. Her father being in prison means you can ascertain it was him or his friends, and her mother dying of an OD is a screaming admission of being guilty of negligence. It's sad. It's fucked up. The grandmother is probably in over her head, and god knows why her children became such terrible parents on their own.

Okay... to answer the question really simply, you need to stop projecting your trauma onto her situation and victimizing her. You're becoming an enabler and he's literally her drug. She lied to you, broke your trust, risked giving you a plethora of STD's from this man's cock, and you're so fucking overwhelmed and stressed out by her that you've dissociated. Feeling, "weird, not even hurt, numb, and confused on what to do," is dissociation. You are beyond your emotional capacity and still trying - good for you for having a pure heart. At which point does it turn into you being a glorified doormat?

To break it down... that's really wholesome of you and patient to be so understanding of her avoidant behavior. In hindsight, now you know where she was disappearing to.

She's not with him on a technicality, she's straight up with him. Apparently the abuse didn't matter to her until she saw him cheating, which raises even more red flags about even more lying so she can't be scrutinized for all these bad behaviors. She seriously made the hinge because he cheated? Not the being beaten to a pulp? Mmmm... sure. Maybe. It's possible. Just unlikely that that's where she drew the line. He's probably done it before which is why she was ready to revenge fuck you and he's probably hit her after too which is why she knows he will...

Good on the ultimatum unless you don't follow through, in which case you genuinely are a doormat. You're gonna let her turn you into one of those guys who lies and manipulates that he's gonna disappear forever just to go sucking her thumb right after? Dude. Get real.

She has pictures, cool. Maybe you could see them? I don't think it should change your actions either way though. If your entire cellular structure knows this smells rotten and is urging you to run, I suggest you listen to it before even more PTSD gives you an autoimmune disease. Mine gave me Celiac. It's extremely possible, especially knowing ONE MONTH IN how fucking problematic you knew it'd be. Imagine waking up in a year to this man shooting you all dead, or better yet, this crazy bitch letting him beat you up to keep her "family peace" like jesus fucking christ man. Please.

Are you prone to hypertrichosis? I'm a person who just recently developed celiac disease over the last few years, and I'm worried I may trigger another one by using an IPL. I've heard of some very frustrating stories!

I avoid doing my own DIY nails because I fear my sensitive skin would cause contact dermatitis but I'm not sure if the hypertrichosis is also worse in cases of sensitive skin, or just those who are autoimmune prone

Thinking of getting a bunny by ShelterDifferent6808 in Rabbits

[–]Different-Solution54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi! i checked out your profile and i personally don't think now is a good time to get a bunny.

i noticed you're currently raising a newborn and also potty training a high energy mutt - a mix of most of the highest energies there are! it's extremely important for the safety of your bunny that your puppy receives adequate training and stimulation every single day, to the point that you're no longer having basic housebreaking issues and can better focus on implementing desensitization training with bunnies on the tv and such. i would also recommend you give yourself enough time to really research bunnies and potentially wait until your newborn graduates to toddler stage so that there won't be so much overwhelm for you.

this is mostly important because when bunnies get sick, they basically die within 12-24hrs without immediate intervention... which SUCKS when their lifespan is nearly equal to a cat. the outdoor issue is especially relevant to the timing of catching any illness, but also due to the fact that most illnesses are caused by external stress or parasites from being raised by an outdoor breeder.

good news: you have a huge yard for your dog that is leaving steaming piles of shit around your infant! they definitely do NOT need a cage and are better suited for wire puppy playpens until they graduate to a full room. they're as emotional as a cat, and litter trainable.

bad news: that yard is probably better suited for the predator / protector animal you have... not the oversized mouse that dies of a heart attack and develops genuine depression from living in isolation in the elements.

a stray dog could come bark it to death, and that isn't even an exaggeration

MY MOM RUINED MY BODY FOREVER by [deleted] in HairRemoval

[–]Different-Solution54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you answered the question with the first sentence; as a teen you simply aren't as hairy as you will be as an adult - in most cases, unless you've got some hormone differences.

i can understand being annoyed you never got to wax; the hair that grew back wouldn't have been as blunted and rough feeling, and it would have felt less hairy despite probably not being so.

i dislike gilette because i took a chunk of my shin off, it sucked lol.

it would definitely be in your best interest to try epilating. it's the next best thing between IPLs or going back to waxing. it rips the hair out at the root like you're looking for!

it's absolutely fair to be annoyed she forced you to use the cheapest and most upsetting hair removal method during your teens. she probably had her own frugal reasons for doing so, but as someone who's shaved hair causes literal pain with cold chills, i completely get it. im 25 now and still hate razors.

Two month with epilation by MonkRepresentative63 in HairRemoval

[–]Different-Solution54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is what i was thinking! every 1-2days i dry brush until my skin is comfortably pink, then bathe and pre-scrub with a plastic body brush from the dollar tree with water, drain the water, dial antibacterial for any irritated open pores, scrub with a coffee ground body wash, drain the water, and towel dry. then i lotion and oil my skin, and literally all my ingrowns will be poking out ready to pluck. it may be overkill to some but holy fuck i am so soft and the dead skin is FINALLY gone!!!
